How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

What dealer was this at in va. I live in md and dealers are telling they can't order them. That price not including tags and registration is it?

Not in the VA region. All dealers in a 5 state radius can't get their hands on a 14 TE premium, had to go further North. Found 2 in NY, but neither had KDSS, ended up finding mine at a dealership in MA.

Been a long time lurker and first time posting.

I am in the market for T4R and one of the VA dealership offer the 2014 4Runner 4x4 SR5 + 50 State Emissions + Carpet Floor Mats & Carpet Cargo Mat + Rigid Running Boards for $32.8K + TTL.

Is this a good deal?

The MSRP was $37,515, paid $34,650 plus taxes, tags and delivery fee. They also gave me a more than fair trade-in price, they matched KBB "good" condition. I paid off the remaining balance, so no financing. If I did decide to finance I would have used PenFed Credit Union. They have ridiculously low auto finance rates right now.

you would think dest charge would be less to HI than to CA or gulf states, since its pretty much a straight shot from japan to HI, and a quick jaunt to CA.

now I can understand the full price for gulf states since they have to go thru the panama canal to get to the gulf states.

The 2014 Tundra is built in Texas but they still charge a delivery fee of $995.00, same as if it was coming from Japan. Actually more than the 4runner delivery fee. No logic in their thinking other than profit. I wonder who gets that money?

the price is good-its below msrp if i'm not mistaken, Looks like its a good deal, can you post a photo of this 2014 SR5's running boards ?? and if you time, what is the part # ?

Looks like everyone is getting a pretty good deal. Picked up a Mag Grey Trail (MSRP over $39,000) with KDSS + some other goodies for 35,000 + Tax plus a great rate on my 08 4Runner trade and 1.9% financing.

2014 Trail Premium KDSS

Placed the order for 2014 Trail Premium with KDSS, Remote Engine Starter,
All weather mats, Sliding Cargo Tray. 39K with out taxes. $41374 inclusive everything. Delivery time : 90 days ...so its gonna be some eager winter for me !!

Stopped by the local dealer today to take a look at a 2014 white Trail Premium for the hell of it. I was given a price of $38,487 plus TTL. Sounds kinda high. It did not have the KDSS or 3rd row seats. Options said mats, remote start, exhaust tip, ball mount & VIP Sales Follow-up(??)

Dealer gave me the whole "there are only 27 of these in the US right now" but said he could come down a little more on the price. The MSRP is at $40,444.

That does sound a bit high, My TE w/KDSS MSRP was $41,480, invoice was $38,667 and got it for 36.9k out the door... but hey, if ppl are willing to pay more, then value will stay higher

if you really want to be sure the dealer is making a small profit as possible off you(i.e. "not getting ripped-off"), you not only have to square away the out the door price, but the 4runner financing , and 4runner insurance. you might be able to get a good price, but if the dealer insists that you must get your car loan from them, then they may recoup their profit from the car dealer interest on the loan, and if you dont have insurance , the dealer will not let you leave the dealer lot without buying comprehensive insurance on your 4runner from the dealer.
What to do ?
for the insurance, ask for the 4runner VIN # then call you car insurance to insure the 4runner to start on the day you buy the 4runner. the insurance company will ask for this VIN #.
for the financing, inform your bank or credit union you are buying a 4runner and have the dealer prepare the 'purchase order" then you bring this purchase order to the bank who will prepare the check/money order that they will mail or hand carry to the dealer. Essentially, you downpayment plus the check/money order that the bank sent to the dealer will pay for the total out the door price of the 4runner.
or even better pay for everything in cash, then the 4unner is all yours which means you are not
forced to buy comprehensive insurance for the 4runner and you can just get minimum liability(but then if it gets stolen only comprehensive will cover you).
if the dealer is making a pitch that their loan is cheaper than the bank, then have the dealer and bank give you a typewritten estimate of their interest charges to you over the life of the loan(e.g. over a 5 year life of the loan). This is their profit on your loan. The smaller interest charge is the cheaper loan. in general, I would trust a credit union more than a bank.
So step # 1 is get the out the door price squared away, ask for the VIN # and go to your bank and insurance company first, then back to the dealer instructing them to prepare the purchase order and telling them you have your own insurance and financing ready.
if you have saved money by my advice, don't forget me if you win the Lottery :) if you lost money , I am not liable as I do not guarantee my advice. double-check my advice or anyone's advice for that matter.

What dealership did you go to?

This was Toyota of Boerne. I also emailed Alamo Toyota and was given an even higher "sale" price of $38,995 in addition to the same spiel about there not being a lot of these for sale. I advised them that these prices are very high for non-KDSS equipped TE Premiums based on A) what people in this (and other threads) are saying they paid and B) Edmunds/True Car has lower figures as well. The sales manager responded by saying the Edmunds/True car is helpful, it by no means gives an accurate assessment of what the price of the car should be. Then, he stated that folks on this site are probably "exaggerating" as to what they paid in hopes of making it look like they got the best deal. While I guess anything is possible, I just don't see a bunch of folks lying about what they paid for a car.

I picked up a 2011 Limited a few months ago and have been kicking around the idea of going to 2014. This would be based on them giving me a good trade in on my 2011 and a realistic price on the 2014.

Hi Jeff

IMHO, its risky haggling directly with the dealer, unless, your emotionally detached from the buying process or not in a rush(the salesman can sense that) I suggest buying through online broker or through costco or through a credit union that has a car buying service or buy from a state where there is an abundance of dealers.e.g. california or where demand for 4runners is slow.

I disagree about it being risky or about letting the dealer know that you're ready to buy now because they if they know you are a real buyer they will be more aggressive in pricing. In my may car buying experiences if they know they can close you today they will give you a solid number (however even that can be dropped especially if you are a ready buyer). Brokers and Costco are a good alternative if you are very uncomfortable in dealing on your own.

Only work with internet managers at the dealer. Do a search for invoice in this forum for my step by step instructions for getting a great deal with ease. Good luck. Seriously, only work with the "internet dept", even if you call or walk in.

With the dealerships in San Antonio, my experience has been that they really don't want to give their lowest price over the phone or through email. They know that there are 5 Toyota dealerships all within a reasonable radius of each other. I don't get why they don't.... Especially with that much competition.

Looking at an stock 4WD SR5 Premium. USAA pricing (via TrueCar) I was quoted 8.79% under MSRP. So, $38,425 MSRP, for $35,047 before TT&L. Not bad. That's at Toyota of Arlington (IL). Thoughts? Planning on a test drive Saturday.
