How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

I just picked up my first 4Runner. I found a white TE non-premium with kdss. I had a good deal going on a trdp, but liked the white TE a little better.

No knowledge on dealers, but I've looked at Gulf States supply and she'll probably get the best deal on the white/pearl. Seems like every dealer has that in stock. Other colors are less easy to find.

Thanks,

that's the color she prefers so that works. The one dealer in the area that we found wanted 44,900 for it which is a couple thousand off sticker. We are also cross shopping a Gx460 and are getting close to 6k off sticker on those. Seems they are a little less likely to deal on the 4runners.

Try Seth Cook at Atkinson Toyota in Bryan. After contacting five or six dealers I drove from west Texas on a friend's recommendation and got exactly what I wanted at a good price with excellent customer service. They even overnighted the plates so we could go on a road trip without the dealer tags on it. My local dealer can learn a lot from them!

If you go with Seth, tell him Eric and Sally appreciated working with him.

Thanks I sent him a email with what were looking for, we'll see what he can do on price.

Every sale is different, but I think if you can be patient you'll find better than that. Good luck.

4Runner Dealership Price

I picked up a white 2016 4Runner TEP for $36,300 and got them to swap out the Toyota all weather floor mats for Weathertech floor mats. In the end got them to return the Weathertech cargo liner (which sucks) and bought a Husky cargo liner. So true price was $36,180 +TTL.
On day of delivery took the vehicle to Discount Tire and sold them the stock tires and bought BFG KO2 265/70/17 Tires.

Edit 7/28: I also added $600 rust proofing and undercoating. Sorry, forgot to mention that.

Out of curiosity what did they give you per tire? I never knew they would buy tires like that. Can you negotiate on a factory order (allocation) or does Toyota typically give you the middle finger if you try to negotiate on ordered vehicles?

I was able to order my limited and negotiate the price. it will really depend on the dealer that you are working with and if you are willing to wait for an allocation to be available.

Going to pick up a 2016 Trail Premium Barcelona Red tomorrow morning, got the paper work done tonight. Listed at $39,600 with KDSS, remote start, cross bars, and window tint. OTD for $45,900 including the Platinum extended warranty for $2,000. Best deal I could find here in AZ and couldn't pass it up after looking for 2 months. Picked up at Tempe Autonation. Curious what other AZ buyers think about this price?

It is like pulling teeth shopping 4Runners. Discounts are obtainable but you have to work really hard, and they're all loaded up with accessories that you may or may not want (particularly Gulf States). If I was shopping a new limited, I would spend an extra few grand and get the Lexus since it's a much, much nicer vehicle.

You have to absolutely order if you are in the Gulf States. They will slap an XP package on 20 of their stock and shove it down your throat in seconds. You could get lucky but you're better off buying lotto tix.

Are there still units available that were assembled ("made") in Japan? The ones with a VIN that starts with "J"

Pretty sure they are all made in Japan.

Mine is a '16 and VIN starts with a "J".

Window sticker also says it was built there.

Not sure if Toyota's moved all 4Runner production to Japan now (highly doubt it) but at least back in 2005 there were still unit VINs which started with "K" (Kentucky - I believe that's what it represented).

Got another question for the general forum though. I'm contemplating an upgrade from my 2005 T4R SE to something more current. The thought of having to deal with car sales people makes me cringe, and honestly puts me off the idea of buying a new car. Anyway, I'm in Southern California pretty close to the Pasadena area. I was curious of any forum members have had good experiences with a particular dealership and / or sales person (internet or otherwise) and can give me a referral. To be fair, I'm not at 100% I will purchase a new vehicle, I'm at about 80%. I just don't know enough of what options / packages are available, haven't test driven anything yet, and I will need to research the value of my current 4Runner.

I was reading an article on Edmunds.com about how to get an internet quote. An internet salesman responded to the article saying how he's a professional, and you have to provide accurate information, and what sets him off about customers looking for quotes. On and on he went. Well, he might be one of the few (very few) car salesman who treat his clients with the respect he expects from his clients. BUT you know what? A stereotype is a stereotype for a reason. I'm sure he's dealt with car salesmen in his formative years before he entered the car-selling game. Sorry for the rant.

Anyway, if anybody's got one of the good ones to recommend please PM me unless you're willing to share their info to the entirety of this forum. Appreciate it.

Toyota is the first brand I have looked at purchasing where I actually have to deal with the salesperson..and I hate it. I've always had some type of Employee purchase program or a VIP program but Toyota has nothing really unless you are truly an employee. I could steal a Nissan or Ford if I wanted to but there is no Bronco and Nissan in my opinion has butchered much of their line of vehicles.

You can use True Car to see what average fair price is and you can use Edmunds to compare invoice cost for whichever vehicle and options you desire. At that point you can either hammer away at them (patience pays off) or look for out of area high volume dealers that are known to sell less.

With Jeep there was a group buy but you had to purchase out of Virginia..but you also received 5% under invoice no questions on vehicles that dealers hold tight at MSRP (Rubicon, etc). Wish Toyota participated in something like this.

Just make sure to negotiate the cost of the vehicle alone then bring in a trade once you have settled on vehicle price.. and make sure to get a quote from other places so that you know what values you are working with. I try to run by carmax and get a feel for what they will give me. That's a start.

Oh, and try to secure your own financing so that they don't try to stick it to you on rates. It also takes the wind out of their sails when it comes to playing the monthly note game where thy try to sell you on a note while shoving in extended warranties and other crap to help increase their profits. I typically go to my credit union. 2.9 for 72 mos and that rate gets much better if you go shorter term. These results may vary. Good Luck.

Brando, thanks for the suggestions. I try to do due diligence with these salesmen. I get multiple quotes for comparison, I save up and put large down payments so I can take advantage of cash incentives versus financing incentives, I use multiple sources for prices and vehicle lookup, and I'm definitely in no rush to buy the vehicle. The trick for me is to try to find a reputable and patient salesmen who I can work with to see what options are available and allow me to test drive a couple of variants without the threat of death to buy the same day.

When I purchased my current vehicle it was so easy! I got several quotes online from different dealers, negotiated the price I was comfortable with, went down on a work day after work, test drove the thing, bought it ... I think I was out of there within a couple of hours. Then again, I bought at the end of the current year for that model year so they were more willing to negotiate and get me out of there. Salesman I dealt with spoke out of his ass but I just nodded and smiled. Guess I'm chasing that transaction again with the next vehicle.

New guy here, , I recently purchased my 2016 4Runner. 4WD SR5 Premium for 34500. With Warranties it was 36k.

Hopefully I got a good deal. :P

2016 Limited

Hi Just bought a new 4X4 2016 Limited (black) in Northeast.
  • Remote Start
  • Fixed Running Boards
  • Cross Bars - Luggage rack
  • All weather mats

$42,100 + TAX + $399 Conveyance fee + Registration fees.

Two dealers offered me around $7k for my 2005 V8 Sport with 108,000 miles on it. Ended up selling to CarMax for $10k

Discount Tire Buying Stock Tires

The Toyota dealership offered $40 per Dueler and $50 per Grandtrek. Mine came with Grandtrek so I got $200. The dealership couldn't offer warranty certificates on the BFG K02, so I had Discount Tire match that offer.

To me it wasn't worth the time and storage to try and make a couple extra bucks and deal with people on Craigslist. Done that and usually is a waist of time when people don't show up.

Yes, Craigslist can be a huge time sink. I would probably do the same as you did plus I don't feel like hauling around 4 tires to any tire shop. Would rather have TireRack ship them to an installer of if the shop can come close just have them do it. I'll have to try this as I have a Discount Tire nearby.
