How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

This is actually par for the course here.
Anywhere within $1k over the MSRP, OTD here in the islands. My 2016 SR5 4x4 with 3rd row seating MSRP was $36,900.00 I ended up at $37,820.00 OTD.
NOTE:
If you have a "trade in" then the price isn't really a good reflection of the actual cost. Because they make a profit off your trade. ((So they can low ball your trade and make it look like you got an awesome deal on the new car.))

I bought a 2016 TEP with KDSS this evening. The primary off road use will be on the Outer Banks. I love deep fluffy sand.
First, a big THANKS to everyone for the tech info and pricing info. I've done a lot of reading the past few months. It was a big help. Thanks.
It came with KDSS, running boards and floor mats of some sort bagged in the back. I'll probably get Weathertech again. Sticker was $42,105. I paid $38,605 plus the usual TTL, after trying for $5k off, $4500 off, etc. They started at $1k off fwiw. I thought about playing hard to get, but took the $3500 off and was out in less than 2 hours counting the test drive and my endless storytelling bs. It was the last TEP on the lot and I hadn't found many at all between VA Beach, here and D.C. Richmond only has 3 dealers.
It's Barcelona Red and I got a free $14.99 Toyota hat.
Cash, no trade. The dealer provides 4 years of free synthetic oil changes, tire rotations and yearly state inspections/$16.
The finance guy suggested an extended warranty of 8 or 9 years for $2335. Oh heck no. I told him I'd only paid $525 for a 6yr/75k on my 2010 Highlander Limited from a nice man at a dealer in Manhattan Kansas iirc. The next thing I knew I was buying a 6yr/75k Toyota no deductible platinum warranty for $550 plus tax. And they've done away with the $50 fee to transfer it to a new owner.
Life is good.

Thank You! This is good information to know. Does every Toyota dealer offer this 6yr/75K mile extended warranty? This also extends the basic warranty of 3yr/36K miles correct?

He was reading the extended warranty options from a huge 3-ring binder. There were all sorts of combinations of years and mileage. I'm retired with no commuting mileage and picked from the lower end. I visit the Outer Banks and have a 16-foot fishing boat I use locally - within an hour of town at most usually.
I'd already told the salesman I didn't want any add ons from the finance guy and had already told the finance guy the same. The story about the Toyota dealer in Kansas and the $50 profit he claimed he was making on my $525 extended warranty in 2010 brought the big book out and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I wouldn't be surprised if the 6yr/75k extended warranty had a retail price of $1500 or $1700 or somesuch. That's why I didn't buy the 6yr/75k extended warranty from this same local dealer in 2010. There's a lot of profit in the finance office.
Edited to add: You can buy an extended warranty anytime before your 3yr/36k factory warranty runs out. Shop around.
As far as what it covers, I think it covers almost everything. A year of so ago the hood latch sensor on my Highlander when nuts and the alarm was going off randomly a couple of times a week. They replaced the unit for free. That's the only time I've used it.

Buying Trail Premium - End of Year Deal?
Hi All,
I am hoping to buy a 2016 Trail Premium with KDSS MSRP $42,140.00 in a few weeks when arrives at dealer.
Other thread suggested 7% - 10% off of MSRP before tax was a good deal, but with year end deals, how much more off would be typical?
Few other questions:
1. Any experiences to share with window tint installed by dealer vs 3rd party after sale?
2. If I plan to buy an extended warranty, should I shop around post sale or work this into the dealer's offer?
3. TP does not come with running boards and I like the look of tube steps. Should I try to get this included in deal or is this the type of extra better off handling post sale?
4. Any other thoughts?

Some insurance companies provide extended coverage at no additional cost. It was part of my comprehensive coverage from Geico. So I declined the dealership extended coverage.
You may want to check if yours does?

I've had GEICO auto insurance since 1967. Here's one of the things I don't like about their auto warranty coverage... you pay a $250 deductible for each and every problem they cover.
"GEICO will pay the repair facility directly for covered claims. You will need to pay your $250 deductible directly to the repair facility. Note: if you have multiple unrelated problems, you will have to pay a separate deductible for each problem. For example, if your brakes and your air conditioner both need to be fixed, you would have a $250 deductible for each repair."
The Toyota plan has a zero deductible and is transferable if you sell the car before the policy ends. It's a great resale angle. Otoh, the dealer prices are absurd.

I couldn't believe the numbers on that sheet - $2k here, $3k+ there, etc. What a profit center that must be for them. If they're willing to knock $1500 bucks off of any warranty they offer they have a health profit margin.

Just got delivery of a 2016 TEP bone stock (no dealer or port adds). It comes with darker tint in the after section that I think is reasonable. Get vehicle without it and try it out.
I don't believe in additional warranties. especially on a vehicle as old school rugged as the t4r. make friends with a good honest mechanic b4 your factory warranty expires.
got and installed a set of Rhino stainless 415 series oval tubes. $217.08 from Auto anything. These bolt into the factory floorboard mounting points exactly. you need a 12 mm socket to remove the factory bolts and a 13mm socket to install the ones that come with the tubes. Less than 1 hour. Wifey could do it. don't get ripped by the dealer.

Thanks rshawiii - the Rhino 415 series are what I had in mind. Knowing the exact tools to have is also very helpful. I am glad "even wifey can do it" cause I be a girl
I have a good mechanic caring for my 2000 toyota, so no warranty in my case likely makes sense.
I did not know (or notice on dealer lot) that TEP came with tint already - I will take a look.
You got a deal! Those Oem remote starters are stupid expensive.
Can't wait! Taking delivery Friday this week.

Bought my 2015 SR5 4wd new from the dealer for $33,200 plus tax & fees (approx $36k out the door). MSRP was $36,600 plus tax & fees.
First the dealer was really trying hard to sell me on a much higher price than what I was willing to pay... I walked in the first day just wanting to look at new cars and did not plan on buying, so I walked out and told them I would think about it first.
After that I spoke to my Uncle who has been in the car business for many years and he recommended using Truecar.com as an accurate reference on what I should be paying.
I found a dealer that was selling the exact 4runner for much less than I was about to pay previously, so i showed the dealer this price and they were able to beat it for me by $500 bucks!
After that I was able to walk out with a new 4Runner for $33,200 which is a pretty sweet deal. Although now i regret not getting the Premium package over the base package (only for the leather seats & seat heaters), but I cant complain!

You can still add aftermarket leather and seat heaters from Katzkin. The benefit to that is that it's real leather and not synthetic stuff so it should feel much better. Plus you can choose options or colors you want. I plan to do that on my base Trail.
There's a guy on TW that sells the katzkins real cheap and you could either install it yourself or get it done locally. He sells for 4Runners as well.
