How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Guys, new to the forum and new 4Runner owner.
I purchased a TRD Off-Road yesterday, this is with KDSS, in Magnetic Gray.
OTD was 40519, I'm hoping this is not a bad OTD amount, you be the judge.

I like it, of course, but this big purchases give me some buyers remorse every time. They are expensive !

Good deal. MSRP around 42k?

Idk what ur tax and license fees are in your area. I assume u were about 37500 before extras which is a good price.

That is such a steal...

2018 SR5 Premium 4WD
-3rd row seats
-Moonroof
-Running boards
-Wilderness package (AW floor mats + roof rack cross bars)

$41274 MSRP
-$4274 off MSRP
$37000 before taxes + fees

I got them to throw in free wheel locks which isn't much. I think this is the best I can do. I tried to get a free cargo cover but it was a no go. Not quite $5000 off MSRP but I guess good enough for California.

Tax down here is 6%.
Discounted price was $37225

Down here at least they hit you with dealer fees, I haven't found a way to avoid paying them, for this dealer it was $700, plus title and registration.

I see at least two of you that think it's not a bad price after all for a KDSS equipped non premium TRD-OFF Road.
Thank you for commenting on this.

By the way, I had to wait for this car to arrive for like three weeks and there was not TRD-Off Road in Gray Metallic in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area.

Tips

From reading this thread and purchasing my 18' OR, it's all about location. It seems like the SE regions are getting good deals. I got $6920 off MSRP. I was planning on purchasing in late summer or fall, but fell into a great dealership and a good internet salesman/deal. I just did everything via internet sales/emails/texts. (Mind you, I haven't purchased a car since 2002, so this internet sales thing was new to me) Everything was done in half a day and I went the next day to sign paperwork. I think I got lucky but also dealing with a dealership who relies on high volume so I didn't have to really try hard to get the deal done. This thread definitely helped me to decide if I was getting a good deal or not, etc.

edit-i just used cargurus just to see 300 miles from me, narrowed it down to what color(s) i wanted, model etc. narrowed down dealerships etc...then i just email blasted all of them to narrow it down to less than 5 dealerships. i think someone on here posted a template email you could send to dealerships...i used something similar to that.

I'm in Jacksonville and looking to purchase a Toyota 4runner. What dealership did you end up purchasing from? Any tips or help would be appreciated!

Just got mine yesterday!!

$41,500 OTD...2018 TRD ORP Magnetic Grey w/moonroof & 3M clearcoat paint protection on door handles, door edges, mirrors and front.

I'm "new" here and on Saturday I got the TRD Off Road Premium in Super White with moon roof, KDSS, sliding cargo, all weather mats (in all three locations), and the exhaust tip.

Turns out if you jump to get all of the dealer's hold back on first try they will send out the big guns to take over the deal. They brought out a paper that showed pretty much exactly what I researched which I think surprised me more than them. So less of the hold back money, but still under invoice; we got it for $39,500.

Im looking at a 2015 4runner trd pro, in white w/ 30k miles for $35k. To me it seems like a good deal. Its a one owner, and has all oil changes and about $10k cheaper than a new one. Or I could get a new trd premium for like $38kish, but I like the pro. its pretty much just good to go. is the trd pro price ok?

I miss the Consumer Reports pricing service, where for $14 you could order a report on a specific vehicle that provided a pretty clear picture of dealer cost, holdbacks and incentives. Unfortunately CR has moved to a build and buy service which is just a re-badging of TRUECAR...

Are there any other dealer pricing information services out there that aren't just dealer bus dev tools like TRUECAR?

Nice work - congrats! I think this is one of the best deals I've seen on this configuration. Did you trade something in or finance with the dealer? Always helpful to see the full context

2018 Offroad Premium.

Moon Roof.

Cargo Slider.

+Predator Bars (dealer installed)

+TRD Pro front Grill Swap Out (dealer installed).

$39k.

I didn't even realize until after the fact, if you want the best deal on a vehicle, go the last day of a quarter (in fact the last day of the first quarter is apparently one of THE best if not the best day of the year to buy a car). It also helps to buy from a corporate store (one that has to report sales metrics to a bigger organization). The dealer I bought from was "16" vehicles behind goal the day I showed up to place a down payment on a TRDPro. several hours later and I'm driving away in a TRD Offroad Premium for $6,500 less than MSRP of the Pro I was wanting (with the front grill already swapped and the predator bars on).

I bought the front and rear valences and bought TRD wheels and slapped on 265 KO2's.

I plastidipped the top rails and I paid to get the poly emblem covers. The only things I have left to do are the suspension (still deciding) and the skid plate (and the driver/passenger window tint).

OTD price is entirely dependent in tax rate and licensing fees, so it’s pretty much irrelevant. Although, random dealer “fees” could have been added.

It’s not “pretty much irrelevant” it is completely, totally, irrefutably, fricking IRRELEVANT!!!

No trade or financing.

Started with TrueCar (by accident--I was just trying to see pricing, not contact dealers). The TrueCar prices were horrible. Better deals were posted on Autotrader for the exact same vehicles.

A few days later one of the dealers emailed me an offer out of the blue that was surprisingly good for this area (8.7% off MSRP). It was their only ORP on the lot. Fortunately it was the color I wanted and had KDSS. I had been leaning towards getting one without a moonroof (more headroom, cheaper, no chance of exploding glass), but the price was too good to pass up.

I was able to negotiate it down further via email, although they started to balk at the end and say that the original offer was based on financing (which was never stated). A nearby dealer with 10 ORPs had a nearly identical vehicle on their lot and claimed they could probably beat the price (although they were extremely coy about committing to it). That was enough to get the original dealer's management to agree to my offer as a "today-only" deal.

Once we were at the dealer to sign, they spent a good 90-minutes trying to sell us extended warranties, maintenance, protection, etc. in hopes they could tack on an extra $5k+ to the price. I had to disappoint them.

According to NADA, invoice was something around $39,743. My price was $943 under which based on other posts was probably their entire holdback. They made $150 on docs/electronic filing of the registration which is the max allowed in Oregon.

At the end they stated that all of their profit is generated by their service department, and they only sell cars to get more Toyota's on the road for their service department to cash in on.
