How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Purchased on Labor Day weekend, picked up today. 2018 TRD OffRoad Premium with running boards, KDSS and moonroof. MSRP $43,135. Purchase price $37,978. With $572 Administration Fee & $27 Title Fee = OTD was $38,577. Will have to pay MA sales tax when I register here in MA this week (purchased in NH).

Started with e-mails to 14 dealers....and was fortunate to get to this price within about 2 days. That said, I've been tracking inventory and models with this config for a few months. For reference, there was only 1 model in all of New England (except CT) with this config last weekend....

Thanks to all who have posted in this thread - incredibly helpful to know current "market" prices.

Took it home and tried out H4, 4L and crawler modes - great day.

Good Price?

Hey Guys,

I live in Tulsa Oklahoma and just got offered $36000 OTD (excluding taxes) on a 2018 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium. The extras included cross bars and connectivity kit. Is this a good deal?

Seems like a good deal. I don’t know what the fair market value on the ORP’s in Tulsa is, so it’s hard to say,, but in Charlotte they are around $40k. I got my 18 OR Base for $34494 before taxes and fees. Does the one you’re looking at have KDSS? Running boards or steps? Accessories like the cargo tray or cover? Weather mats?

Negative on all those features. Its stock except for moon roof, connectivity kit and cross bars.

I had to haggle and get dealers competing against each other to get that same outfit for 37k in rural Illinois. Don't think I've seen too many below that in the last few months.

After an absolutely awful experience with Stephen Toyota in Bristol, CT in which they sold a vehicle a had a deposit on, I finally picked up my new 4Runner this past Saturday from Berlin City Toyota. I'll be starting a build thread in the coming days but wanted to post here to give credit to the dealer at which I bought it. I got word of the dealer from VT4RunnerSR5 who then gave me the email address of their internet sales manager who worked with me through the whole process. I'd be happy to pass this info along should anyone want, and was told that referrals are big when it comes to sales. It's a deal I'd encourage anyone in the market to jump on.

Berlin City Toyota in Portland, Maine offered a killer deal that not only could I not find anywhere else in the Northeast but that in scanning this thread is one I didn't see anywhere else in the country.

Aside from not being red (which is seemingly impossible to find in the Northeast without KDSS, and which you basically have to factory order to get the way you want it-- and in turn, not get anywhere near as good of a deal), I got exactly what I was looking for at a hell of a price given the manufacturer's asking.

2018 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium
Magnetic Gray Metallic
Power moonroof
Cargo net
Door edge guard
Exhaust tip
Roof rack cross bars

The dealer has a $599 document fee which I asked them to waive to be competitive with other dealers with no fees, so the salesman offered to add the $600 on to the trade-in value of the car I was handing over. I asked them to throw in rubber floor mats to seal the deal and they were more than happy to oblige.

It was the easiest process I could have imagined. If I hadn't taken the time to do a test-drive prior to signing the papers, and hadn't spent some time demonstrating the features of the car I traded in, I don't doubt I could have been in and out of the dealership in less than a half hour. Even dealing with the finance manager was easy; no surprises, no hidden fees, nothing that made me want to leave or that made me leave feeling less than great about the purchasing experience.

I really can't say enough good about Berlin City Toyota and the salesman I worked with. Especially after the awful experience at the other dealer, this was such a pleasant surprise that if-- and that's a very hefty *if*-- I ever need to buy another Toyota vehicle, or anyone I'm close with does, I'm bringing them up there even despite the fact that it was a 4 hour drive each way. It really has me going into my new truck with a good feeling about it, and makes me enjoy it that much more.

Oh, and the truck itself is absolutely amazing. Quite photogenic as well:

Roody glad to hear it all worked out and you had a better experience with Berlin City. Love the color of your TRD ORP

Thank you, and thank you again for the recommendation! It was the best buying experience I've ever had, by far. Also happens to be the best/nicest vehicle I've ever had by far, but that's another story...

Congrats, especially after the earlier dealer shenanigans...and nice pic with the sun behind. All you needed was a rainbow in there for the perfect happy ending :-) Enjoy it! :-)

Thank you! The proverbial rainbow was the gorgeous weather up in Maine despite the rain and fog on my drive up, literally until the Kennebunkport rest area. Now I just need to make it back up there again to actually enjoy what the state has to offer.

Being the first non-VW product I've purchased in 17 years, the buying process was much less straight forward for this than I had hoped. Quick background, I work in the automotive aftermarket industry, and have for 15 years, so as far as VW/Audi in my area goes, I've got a lot of contacts. The 7 previous purchases have all been super quick and smooth, many without ever driving the car before knowing what I was going to buy.

Switching to Toyota was a hell of a change; my initial hunt was for a 2018 ORP w/o KDSS which is apparently a near unicorn in the CAT region now. My search went from Scranton to Raleigh, I found a handful (almost all Silver), contacted all the dealers, got vastly different pricing, broadened my search to TRD OR Tacomas, and finally to TRD OR 4Runner's.

First impression, Central Maryland salespeople are slimy as hell and will seemingly say anything to get you to come in to the dealership. Second impression, none of these people know a thing about the vehicles (when asking about options one had Brown's told me "projector headlamps and body-colored bumpers"). Third impression, reading comprehension skills must have been lost at some point.

Finally I settled on the best communication/price, with my number 2 color choice (which, has quickly grown on me), which happened to be from Darcars in Silver Spring. Utilizing Costco pricing, without any haggling went from a sticker of $39,624 to $34,114; the value they gave me of my trade sealed the deal, and other than a horrendously long process in the finance office (the finance lady was... not the quickest at moving through menus, considering I did all the finance approvals before arriving) was a pretty smooth process (albeit >5 hours from arrival to departure, and the vehicle walk through I was given was "once you do everything once or twice you'll know how it all works")

For anyone else looking, one of their other Magnetic Off Road's (02/18 build date, $39,614 MSRP) has >110 miles, a Limited Shift knob, and damage to the rear bumper.

As posted in the Magnetic thread, first round of inconsequential mods are already on the way, hopefully tint this week, and then the fun begins.

Hoping to buy a TRD OR soon here in Ohio. What does Costco pricing translate to? By that I mean, do you mention that you're a Costco member at the beginning of the conversation? I've heard it mentioned before (TrueCar also), but don't know any details. Thanks!

For me it involved going to the Costco auto website (https://bit.ly/2pgnxzS) and then finding the local dealer(s) that supported the pricing. The two in my area (Darcars and Koons) had vastly different responses to requesting Costco pricing.

Darcars did the "appropriate" thing which is to show the Costco pricing guide, which for a '18 TRD OR was $2,000 below invoice (plus all rebates). Costco lays out on their website how the process should go (and also asks a fairly thorough questionnaire after the sale to confirm).

Koons on the other hand said "the Costco price is $xxxxx", which, coincidentally, had been their online advertised price earlier in the day, however, after talking to the dealer about the vehicle, the online price increased (this happened to 3 separate vehicles I was looking into at their various locations). When I asked Koons why their Costco pricing was different from another dealer, I was asked who else I had spoken to, and to provide proof of their pricing. Upon providing this proof I was told "I've passed it up to my GSM to verify it" and never heard back, they lost the sale.

Thanks for the info. I'm not a Costco member, but maybe it would be worth it. $34k for a TRD OR would be a great price in Ohio, so congrats on the deal and on the new ride. I imagine there are quite a few differences between VWs and Toyotas, too. Tough to switch brands I bet  but you picked a great first Toyota, I believe. I've put a combined 500k miles on the two 4Runners I've owned, which keeps me in the fold  . I've outgrown my desire to fix vehicles.

When I was looking for my TRDP, Koons had one and wanted 50k. I quickly crossed them off my list.

For $60 even if the membership saves you $500 on the car it's worth it :P

From "inquiry" time through the Costco site to concrete pricing via email was <24hrs for me btw

Below is what I ended up paying for a 2019 TRD Pro - there was no way to order it without sliding cargo tray and running boards
