How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Yeah I’m in the same boat as some trying to decide to move up. It don’t pay me to move up to a 2020 Pro because of what they are asking.
Trade my 17 Pro in on a 19 Pro.
This is what I get.
Sunroof
JBL system
Fox suspension
My Pro has 12000 miles on it.
Out of my pocket between 5000 and 6000.
Do I make the jump or keep mine since it is paid for?
Tough decision.
Keep it.
The only reason to trade out would be to get those things from the '19 plus the safety features of the '20. If you're not getting a '20, it's not worth it IMHO

Keep in mind region is everything !!! On pricing.

IN SAN DIEGO, CA the 4 runner is the shiznitt. HOT HOT VEHICLE !!!

Dealers do not want to budge on price.

So when dealers honor costco price they cringe.

2020 4 runner SR5 4WD 43k sticker >>>>> $40,455 costco auto program. PLUS FEES.

At 1st dealer played it off and tried giving me sticker shock.

I said I thought Costco gave a better deal. I instantly got up about to walk... They "forgot" i was a costco customer referral.
10 min laters price magically got lower.

Deal I’ve worked South Florida
SR5 Premium XPPredator package magnetic gray 4x2, softtex seats, 3rd row, sunroof, sticker $45657
5 year tire and rim coverage added $760.00
Taxes $3481
All fees, tag, tax, $44000 OTD
Picking it up tomorrow

I’m in need of some advice from the experts on here. I’m shopping for a 20 Black Limited and, while open to traveling to buy, was also talking to my local dealer who just informed me they’re getting two in over the next month.

Option #1

2020 Magnetic Black Limited w/ black interior
All weather floor liners, cargo tray, roof rack cross bars, running boards and 3rd row
MSRP - $49,456
Dealer Quote - $46,663

Option #2

2020 Magnetic Black Limited w/ redwood interior
All weather floor liners, cargo tray and roof rack cross bars
NO 3rd row
MSRP - $47,713
Dealer Quote - $45, 054

I’m not seeing anything dramatically cheaper within a 200 mile range of my location. The only three I see slight lower don’t have any options which would bridge the gap. Based of that, it seems like a good deal but wanted to get your thoughts.

This will be my 3rd 5th gen (2010 & 2014 SR5’s) so I had a serious deja vu moment when I plopped down a deposits on another one this weekend. I live in Colorado and dealers are sometimes hit or miss on when they are willing to deal.

2019 Mag Grey TRD ORP with no options (KDSS/sunroof/etc.)
MSRP w/ all dealer fees was $41,600 + tax
Priced down to $36,400 + tax

Overall I was very happy since I got one of the last couple in the model, color, and options left in a 2019 in the entire area. Didn’t want a 20 with TSS. Seems like they rushed the release and still have some bugs to work out.

On to another build. At least I’m very familiar with the platform at this point.

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum, been lurking on here for the last month trying to get some ideas on mods. Don't have my 4Runner yet, but waiting on the 2020s and I prefer the Pros. So I emailed one of the internet managers in my area (I live in Los Angeles) on one of the 2020 TRD Pros in Super White that was arriving at the dealership any day now.

He sent me the spec sheet on it and MSRP on it was $51,743. His price he quoted me was $61,500 plus tax and license (figure another 10% in the LA area which brings it up to $67-68K OTD.)

He said this is their first 2020 Pro and that's their price. Am I missing something? Who's crazy enough to pay $70K for a Toyota 4Runner? Or is this really the going price? I mean I know they just came out, but a $10K markup for model long in the tooth...come on now.

Purchased a 2019 Limited with MSRP of $46,098 for $40,250 including $300 dealer fee. Have to pay TTL in my home state when I register with the SOS.

Nice!! What color did you get? What state are you in? This will be my first T4R!!

Blizzard Pearl! I am in Michigan but went to Milwaukee, WI to get this deal. They gave me KBB trade-in on my 2017 TRD ORP and was positively surprised it was worth $31K with 43K miles on it.

Hi guys,

Newbie here with a newly acquired 2019 VB TRD Pro and wanted to share our experience with pricing and negotiations.

We are located in CO and have ties to SoCal. Naturally, those were the first two regions we hit up after we decided we weren't after the 2020 AG TRD Pro. Neither markets were very competitive with pricing and the convenience factor alone wasn't worth the asking price. We got fed up with most local dealerships telling us prices aren't negotiable or they had a market adjustments tacked on. Whatever. :uzi:

When we got serious, we must have sent over 150+ emails to all regions of the US with a VB T4R in stock. The SO and I tagged team negotiations until we hit a target vehicle that fulfilled our needs with both price and options. We found that most dealers west of the Mississippi left lots of meat on the bone with the SE region (GA/FL) being the most aggressive at 14.2 - 14.4% off MSRP.

Best pricing in Denver area was invoice pricing + dealer fees + TDA at Groove (5.72% off MSRP). The internet sales folks were very nice and best we've dealt with in the area but ultimately they sold the only VB unit in stock and it was a very basic build with no options.

Any Autonation dealership was a waste of time no matter the region. NONE of the Autonation dealers wanted to discount > $500 off MSRP. Yeah no thanks -- not paying $55-56k OTD in any situation.

Ultimately, the price OTD + travel and transport costs was still cheaper than buying local by $3-4k.

There are still two other VB cars out there at 14.2% off MSRP in GA and FL. Be more than happy to share that info with the community if anyone is interested.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's our deal which included dealer adds (Tint, wheel locks, touch-up paint).

MSRP $51,143 ($50,211 without dealer adds)
Sell Price $43,794

% Off MSRP = 14.4%

Tax 8.75% $ 3,884
Tags 1,155
Doc Fees 599
Title Fees 46
-------------------------
OTD Total $49,478

Transport to CO 1,200
RT Airfare for 2 821
Car Rental 44
Airport Parking 6
------------------------
Net Cost $51,549

Hi All,

I’ve been lurking on this forum for the last 6 months and now I’m ready to pull the trigger on a new 4Runner. I currently have an 2001 Limited with about $185k miles on it. I love it but the work it needs is starting to pile up so I think it’s time to upgrade to the 5th Gen.

I live in Denver and I’ve seen a lot of posts on her from other Denver members. Today I went to Mountain State Toyota, Auto Nation Toyota and Stevenson Toyota East. Ultimately I’m looking to get a White ORP with KDSS. Seems like finding the setup I want is tougher than I thought. MST has several 2019 with these specs but didn’t seem to want to negotiate much on price. There best offer was as follows. They did try to offer a little more on the trade when i started to walk away:

White ORP with Sunroof & KDSS.
MSRP: $43365
Sonic Price after discount: $39,781
Trade Allowance $1750
Taxes: $3160
Filing fee: $37.20
Total OTD offer: $41,228

Thoughts on this price? Seems like I’m seeing way better deals on here by other members. But 4runners are in high demand in Colorado’s maybe that’s why deals are tough around here?

Auto Nation and Stevenson had horrible sales people. They had no clue about KDSS and thanks to this forum I felt 100x more knowledgeable than everyone helping me. Ultimately they just tried to push me into any ORP on the lot.

Last part of my long post...I’m a costco member and have seen some posts about Costco deals. Are these sets prices negotiated already by Costco? Any tips on using them to get the specs I’m looking for?

Thanks in advance for any advice/info! This is my first car purchase so I’m pretty green.

Sent you a PM. Don’t get wrecked by Stevenson on that price for a 2019, glad you walked away.

Submit the inquiry through Costco auto buying program. Get the quote from your Costco auto buying partner dealer. They’ll send you a quote over email and you can ask the sales person to confirm your options and adjust the quote accordingly.

I’ll be taking my quote to all of the local dealers via email to ask to beat and see what happens. But for reference, most are reporting $36.2-$38K depending on options on a 19 ORP.

It looks like you hit all of the dealerships in Denver that didn't give good (or any) discounts when we were shopping. The most competitive was Groove. I wonder if you could try to negotiate with their internet team (Chad or Michelle) on one of their 2019s and see if they can do a dealer trade for a white one. If you're willing to travel, much better deals can be had as well. This region is not deal friendly for 4Runners compared to the SE. Good luck!

I agree that Groove Toyota is VERY easy to work with. I can get you a point of contact there as they were very easy to work with. Boulder Toyota had what I wanted but were not willing to work. The irony is I got the better deal from Grove who dealer traded from Boulder...

I considered traveling to get a better deal but my time and convenience is worth paying a little more not to have to deal with it.

I've tried several dealers in Fl. gulf coast on a '20 ORP , none were willing to deal and seem to stick very close to MSRP.

There are two '19 Pro's down in Georgia with full on Gobi racks and ladders for 48k (VB) and 49k (Bl). Only mention it because of the hard to get Gobi racks. Isn't that the rack with the huge wait list/build time?

Lowe Toyota to be specific.

Thanks for the rec on this one. The two gals that we worked with at Lowe were very nice. Ultimately, they were at 8.6% off MSRP which was rather low on the list for that region. Would have done the deal if they were over 10% off!

Replied to your PM. We only asked about 2019s so can't be sure what discounts are on 2020s. Either way it's worth a shot!

Everyone needs to buy from Groove and stop enabling the other dealers! Based on solicited feedback from other buyers when shopping for a Taco we ended up not buying, the consensus was Groove all the way in CO for pricing and experience. Based on our own personal experience, we wholeheartedly agree. Boulder and Arapahoe can both stare at their aging inventory. MSRP my arse!

The travel isn't for everyone. For us it was part of the fun. Got to visit a city I hadn't been to for over fifteen years and had a nice meal there. The bad part was not much sleep and our Friday didn't end until Saturday night. All in all, worth the savings but it's not for everyone.

seeing a lot of chatter around Denver-area dealers lately, wanted to chime in and share my experiences.

firstly, let's get right to it. after aggressively shopping for a 2019 4x4 SR5 in mag grey for weeks, Pedersen Toyota in Ft. Collins gave me the best deal out of any dealer w/in 500 miles. I paid ~$32,600 before taxes (~14% off $38,200 MSRP). for comparison's sake, this price includes temp tags, dealer handling, etc. but obviously not taxes or DMV registration (these are absurdly high in Denver, so my OTD price wouldn't help anyone outside the region).

I can't recommend Pedersen enough -- Chris Compton (internet sales manager) was super easy to work with, gave me an extremely good deal, brought my car in from Wyoming, and even picked me up from the bus station. 10/10 experience.

Denver-area Dealers
Groove Toyota: not a pleasant experience, and ultimately were not willing to price aggressively. i'd avoid.
Stevenson East: avoid at all costs. don't even know where to begin. these guys are crooks, made us feel uneasy the entire time, kept trying to re-trade our agreed upon deal, would not honor my loan pre-approval w/ BofA (lol what?) and when things weren't going their way, kept showing us the door. i've never seen anybody treat a customer (especially one ready to purchase) like that before. horrible salesmen. you can't even test drive a car here unless you already have full coverage insurance because they're too stingy to pay for the proper insurance themselves, lol. i've also heard horror stories where people come in pre-approved for a loan but Stevenson sneakily switches up the papers to get them to borrow through Toyota Financial services. just beware.
Boulder Toyota: not willing to budge on price, waste of time
Mountainstates Toyota: were willing to do ~13% off MSRP, but didn't have the car i wanted, and weren't the easiest to negotiate with
Liberty Colorado Springs: James here is the man -- gave me a great deal, ultimately Pedersen was able to beat it though. but seemed straightforward and negotiation was super easy.
Autonation: don't waste your time, these guys will never give you the best deal on a car. this is a $4bn publicly traded company not interested in earning your business on a good deal.

gotta thank the community here -- before finding this thread, I was about to pull trigger on a 2017 SR5 with 18k miles for $33k before taxes from Groove Toyota. after equipping myself with all the knowledge on here, i ended up in a brand new car for $400 less. i'd say the search was worth it.

on financing, BofA offered 3.89% on a $15k loan for 4 years, but Bellco beat them at 3.59% for 3 years.. not bad imo. my credit score is 750+

if anyone needs any help, or would like me to share my various offer letters with them, feel free to PM me.
