You can usually do better than TrueCar. Just tell them you want 10% off of MSRP. Some will do it, most won't.
I am looking for a TRD ORP with KDSS and no other options in either silver or mgm. I'm thinking I will have to get them to "order." since I couldn't find any in the buyatoyota inventory. Should I still be able to negotiate 10% off MSRP in that case? I hear differing opinions on ordering versus off the lot when it comes to discounts. I also know that they don't order per se.

They can order and depending on the dealer, discounts can still be found but generally not as much as a vehicle they already have on the lot. I think I got around 7-8% off when I special ordered my 2014. The hard part was finding a dealer willing to place the order, not negotiating the price.
Fortunately, my cousin is close friends with a GM of a local Toyota dealership (I just found this out this morning) so maybe he'll be willing to do that for me.
Also, wondering if we negotiate 8% off MSRP, let's say, and then some big rebates hit when my order arrives. Those rebates are manufacturer, so I wonder how that would play out.

You typically get to keep any new rebates and incentives that are available at time of purchase. Just make sure that’s in the sales agreement when they order.

Keep your finance dukes up. I know a couple GM's and salesmen. Most laugh at the fact they take advantage of their family's friends! Sometimes your own friend would get a birddog reward$$

im in the los angeles area and i have been getting some quotes through costco. some of these quotes have been close to 10%off the msrp (about 9.8%) others are closer to about 8%. as for the dealers that that do not participate in the costco program, they always say to get the quote in writing and they will match it. i think its just a way for them to get you in there and then they try to screw you.
i asked one dealer for a quote and they were forcing me to buy some extra package of some theft protection stuff and some other stuff called permaplate for $1690. just for the heck, i did research on that permaplate stuff and found it to be on ebay for $28. a bottle. turns out, all it is is a wax..

I paid 40900 before taxes on 2020 orp white no kdss, moon roof and liners. Was listed at 43600. After taxes came out to 45600.

Yes...that was by far the highest price I received...I was quoted anywhere from 31500 to 33000...plus they had what I was looking for and took off nearly 5k off the pro which I could not find anywhere...coupled with the fact that they were 6 miles up the road...I’m a happy camper
I got my 19 orp for just under 36k. Msrp 44k. I got lucky to get family discount. It’s something like a few hundred what they pay. And way below invoice. I even made him give me trd pro wheels which I sold. Then went to get the trd forged wheels.
