How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

After a long day yesterday and having a salesman call me ridiculous. I sent out some more emails and found a deal better than that dealership offered after speaking with the manager on how I was treated. Assuming the dealership can acquire it tomorrow getting a 2021 Venture for 11.5% off MSRP. Was able to edge out the other dealer by .3%. Bonus is I found a buyer for my FJ at my asking price and we are gonna do the In & Out trade/buy which will also save me 1k in sales tax. Saturday I should be an official member of the 4R crew.

I also checked with costo auto. The closest dealer to me was 2.5 hours away and only had ORP's available. The sales guy said the costco price was $100 over invoice with a savings of 8.1% after the rebate was gonna be $41,601 which included a $199 doc fee. The venture will be at $41,425.

Has anyone got a trd pro for under msrp?

I've only gotten MSRP quotes in CO, IA and KS. I've been pinging dealers the last several days. One CO dealer said they only sell for $5-12K above MSRP. Eager to know if you find anyone that will sell less than MSRP. Please keep us posted.

2021 T4R SR5 Premium in Super White

MSRP: $41,425
+Power Title/slide moonroof w/sunshade: $630
+Keep it wild savings: -$750
+Third Row Seating: $1,085
+All weather Floor Liners/Cargo Tray: $269
+Delivery/Handling: $1,175
Total: $43,834

Sale price with $1000 Rebate: $41,059

Trade-in: $20,000 (2014 Jeep Wrangler Sport)

Dealer/Doc Fee: $75

CT TTL: ~$1900 (CT is 6.35% at sale, plus separately, an annual personal property tax, which is your local mill rate multiplied by 70% of the appraised value)

Net Total: ~$23,000

My memory isn't as detailed on the TTL numbers, and I can't find my paperwork at the moment, but I know it's close. My experience buying was very good, and I thought they did right by me with my trade in value, which is why I didn't push any harder on the sale price. Everything was all sorted within 2 hours, no complaints.

Overall, I am pleased with both the price, fairness, and value (all of which, of course, are subjective).

I was about to pull the trigger on a 2021, but decided to save a few thousand smackers and picked up a 2018 SR5 Premium yesterday with 16,000 miles. The price was fair and there was no fooling around with additional dealer-added crap, since it was used (though I did go through a dealer).

From reading this thread, it sounds like it's a lot easier to buy a used car than a new one. They really like to play games with new car sales, apparently.

First new car (2018 is new as far as I'm concerned) I've bought since 2004. Still getting used to all the bling.

Oh yeah:

Price: 35,895.00
Doc fee: 449.00
Smog: 41.50
Sales tax: 3,007.26
Title: 29.25

OTD: 39,422.01

Anyone gotten a deal on a base 2021 4Runner SR5 2WD?

Looking at a few that have a base price of:

$36,340 + 3rd Row Seat @ $805 + $1175 delivery fee - $500 "Keep It Wild" savings...

= $37,820.00 before any discount

Anyone know for sure about what the dealer's cost on a 4Runner like this would be?

Thanks...

Check out Keating Toyota in Manvel Texas. I bought a 2020 SR5 with third row 4x4 in September with sticker msrp of 41,358 for $37,295 pre TTL. About 10% off as I pushed for 40k out the door with TTL to make it happen. I flew down from Madison WI for the deal. It was the car I wanted. Nautical blue, 3rd row, and TRD wheels.

Check them out. They have a couple of SR5 2wd third rows last time I checked.

I dont know if I believe that. Keep in mind, I was mainly shopping for a new pickup, but my 4Runner was replacing an Xterra that I totaled last month. I worked with Mountain States Toyota via email, and got better than Edmunds "invoice" price on a Venture model. I would check them out if you havent already. It was the best car buying experience I've had. I was also considering a Titan pickup truck, and I will tell you, vehicle to vehicle, I was pretty close, but it was the dealer experience that really sealed the deal for me. The Nissan dealers in the Denver area are all SNAKES.

Appreciate the insight...Mountain States doesn't have the configuration in stock at the moment but am likely going to work with them. Did you work with anyone specific via email or just use their esales or chat to get rolling? Thank you.

I live in Des Moines and tried to buy a new pro from Toyota of Des Moines and they wouldn't come off Msrp for me at all

That’s nuts because Illinois And Wisconsin dealers were way above or MSRP or at MSRP. His car was 51.9 he got it for 50.7 and no doc fees since he paid out of state tax and registration.

So more like 12-1300. But if if you factor in doc fees And other charges he saved like 1500 compared to the same car out of an IL dealer.

Well my previously posted Venture purchase fell through. It wasn't marked reserved when the dealer located it. It was recently traded to that dealer for a sale. Knowing after talking with the dealer that my closest Super White venture was in MN from Nebraska, I expanded my option to my 2nd fav combo of Barcelona with the black TRD wheels. There were able to locate one and thankfully that dealer was open today so they could get it for tomorrows sale of my FJ and purchase of the 4R. They still honored the 11.5% off that we previously agreed on so $46,194 down to $40882. Tomorrow is the day!

NICE!

I just closed a deal with Vandergriff Toyota in Arlington, TX. on a metallic gray 2021 4Runner SR5 2WD Base Model for the wife. I'll be flying into DFW from Nashville next Thursday to pick it up and drive it the 10 hrs back to Nashville!

Port/Factory-Added Equipment: 3rd Row Seats, Cargo Net, Black Tube Step Running Boards (Total MSRP: $1788)

Dealer-Added Equipment: Window Tint, Pinstripe, "Zaktek" Interior/Exterior Appearance Package, Nitrogen in tires (Total MSRP: $1297)

$36,340 Base MSRP
$1245 Toyota destination fee
$805 3rd Row Seat (factory-installed)
$649 Black Tube Step Running Boards (port-installed)
$275 Premium Carpet Set (port-installed)
$59 Cargo Net (port-installed)
$399 Window Tint (dealer-installed)
$299 Pinstripe and Nitrogen in tires (dealer-installed)
$599 "Zaktek Interior & Exterior Appearance Package" (dealer-installed)
____________________________________________________________
$40,670.00 Total MSRP
____________________________________________________________
-$1000 (Toyota Rebate)
-$500 ("Keep It Wild Savings")
-$5695.59 (Dealership Discount)
____________________________________________________________
$33,474.41 before tax, title, license

So...if you don't count the "Keep It Wild Savings" of $500, and the Toyota Factory Rebate of $1000, since those come from Toyota automatically, the $5695 that the dealership itself is discounting the truck amounts to about 14% off MSRP.

Counting both the dealership discount as well as the Toyota factory incentives of $1500, the total discount of $7195.59 off MSRP adds up to a 17.69% discount.

I want to thank one of the others who posted in this thread who gave some great advice on getting a good deal on a car, which I followed:

- Set up a Gmail account to use only for correspondence with dealerships. This way, your personal or business email accounts don't get clogged up with all the dealership sales emails. And, it's easier to keep track of offers, because only car sales offers will be in that inbox.

- Also, get Google Voice, which allows you to set up a separate phone number to give to salespeople. Forward that number to your regular phone. You can then selectively turn that number off at any time of your choosing, preventing unwanted calls from dealerships by either selecting "do not disturb", or turning off calls fro that number altogether (for example, I work nights, and salesmen like to call first thing in the morning and wake me up). You can also select a "call screening" option, with which anyone who calls that number has to state his name before it will put the call through to you. You then get to listen to the person say his name before you select whether or not to accept that call.

- Make an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of all the offers, along with which dealership and salesman made the offer, their contact info, the VIN and description of the vehicle, etc. Trust me, it can get a bit hard to keep track of when you have 10 or more offers, and all the vehicles have different factory, port, and dealer-installed options. I only had about 10 offers to go through, because there aren't that many 4Runners out there, comparatively, that are what we were looking for (base, 2WD, with 3rd Row).

- Start emailing every dealership that has what you're looking for. Personally, the search engine I found most helpful was Auto Trader. I was able to search for exactly the truck and options I was looking for. Ask for their best out-the-door price. That way, regardless of what their fees or whatever, are, you can look at the bottom line and compare different dealers.

You can also "back into" how much they're actually discounting the truck, if you know the base MSRP, destination fee, factory, port, and dealer-installed options, as well as the factory incentives. This way, you can "compare apples to apples" with regard to price, no matter what the options are, and determine a percentage off MSRP that the dealer is discounting the vehicle, to get your best deal and find out which dealers are willing to cut the price the most.

There are also sites that claim to disclose to you the "invoice price" and "dealer holdback" either for a fee, or for giving them your info. I didn't try this - the approach I took was just to email a bunch of different dealers and ask for their best offers, and, after a few days, I had a couple of pretty good offers, and one really good offer (the one I'm buying). But, I guess, if you have the accurate dealer cost info at hand, you could just decide how much you think it's fair that the dealership should make on the deal, and go from there, making them an offer.

Another thing - if you're looking to borrow money to buy a vehicle, your best interest rate will usually be at a credit union, especially if you have good credit. I was able to get 2% interest for 60 months at Old Hickory Credit Union, here in the Nashville area. I think if I went to 72 months, it would have been 2.5%. I don't think even Toyota Motor Credit is that low with their special rates.

New 4runner Limited in Ohio

I have the following offers on the table from Ohio/Indiana dealers:

4Runner Limited 4wd

Dealer 1
MSRP: $48299
Dealer discount: $4818
Toyota cash: $1000
Price before TTL: $42481

Dealer 2
MSRP: $48299
Dealer discount: $4568
Toyota cash: $1500 (I think this is a mistake)
Price before TTL: 42231

What do you all think? It's a limited, which I don't think is in high demand right now, but it's the trim I prefer.
