Sadly it’s a big “?” on the future. I purchased the same 4Runner in 2017 for under $40k that it seems like people pay around $45k now... the msrp could go up again when the 22s start rolling out (which could impact the 21s), you may be able to find some “cheap” runners here or there, or may not be able find any of the ones you want at all by they get low on stock.
My recommendation would be to look around (up to 200 miles away if you’re comfortable making the drive). Get an idea from this forum and from those searches of what people are paying for the 4Runner you want. Set a budget and then start making calls on the ones you’re interested in. Make these dealerships compete, tell them you’re comparing them to someone else, let them know you’re ready to buy the best deal out there...OR..look for demos or vehicles people traded back in quickly for whatever reason, as there are lightly used 4runners out there where you can get a discount and have the benefits of a new car. realistically those are the only ways you’ll get a “great” deal
