How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

I paid $37k for my new ORP in June of 2018, no big negotiation, $3k off MSRP was just what the local dealer offered as "internet pricing". Hearing some anecdotes and seeing this thread, I entered my specific car info into KBB and it came back $39k as the low end of dealer trade in, and $42k for low end of private party sale. Really? I don't want to sell, but I'm just amused that a new car purchase can be an appreciating asset! It's nuts, just like the housing market.

When I purchased my wife’s new 4runner yesterday the toyota manager was trying to get me to trade in my Tacoma. I bought it new in 2018 and he offered me within 600$ of what my OTD price 3.5 years ago (I do only have 16k miles on it I don’t drive much). That was without me remotely haggling with them just a strait cash offer.

I didn’t trade it in because I love my Tacoma but the car market is rather insane right now.

How does Costco pricing work once you have sent in your information to Costco?
Does Costco give you a price for a vehicle and you contact the dealer? Or does the dealer contact you. I have never went through Costco so I would like to know what to expect.

I'm in the same boat, looking to go through the Costco Auto buying program as well.
You select the make/model you're interested in, put in your name, Costco number, contact number, and zip, and it'll tell you the closest dealership offering Costco pricing on that model, and automatically send your info to them. You can wait for them to contact you (email and/or call within 5-10 minutes in my experience) or you can contact first.

Couple things that might be useful: the dealership(s) closest to your zip may not be in the program for 4runners, so you won't automatically get the closest dealership's Costco salesperson (usually also their internet salesperson). Conversely, if you play around with the zip you can target specific dealerships/areas if you think they may have better pricing. If one wanted to, you could "in theory" enter a throwaway email, bogus info (as long as the # format matches), and play around with zip codes to get a feel for pricing at different locations and then enter your actual information once you find the dealer you want to go for, to save yourself being harassed too much. That said, most Costco program approved salespeople are pretty straightforward compared with the average dealer experience but YMMV.

Thanks for the info.

We should be preparing for a severe down turn.

Just bought a new Magnetic Grey '21 TRDORP last Saturday. $2540 off of MSRP which brought it to about $42.7k. Also got an awesome trade in on my 5.5 year old Silverado.

The dealer I went to in So Cal wanted 8k over MSRP for a 2021 TRD Off Road.. told him to kick rocks at that price.

Similar. One dealer wanted $5k over MSRP for an ORP. His price was about $50k. I told him to go pound sand. I could actually get a TRD Pro at MSRP for around $52k...
