How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

New 4Runner Purchase

Just finalized a new White 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium optioned with the TRD Wheels, USB Fast Charging dual ports, High Performance Fog Lights, Cargo Tray, Moon Roof, roof rack cross bars and all weather mats. Final price was $250 under MSRP. I have seen these in some areas where dealers are asking $5,000 over MSRP - CRAZY!!

I had to go 2 hours away from my home to get this. It is a dealership in Wisconsin - which was great to work with.

It is in transit and should arrive in 3 weeks.

The only real negotiating was done on my trade in...

But happy to get what I wanted.

$42,754 OTD price on TRD Off Road in Orlando.

Negotiated $1,700 off MSRP and the dealer matches the highest written offer I had for my trade in (2016 Honda HRV).

With Trade, the cost came out to $34,000 even. I threw an additional 7k cash down for a 60 month Finance amount of $27,000 @ 2.55%.

I also got the dealer to throw in Weathertec mats for the entire vehicle which I think ends up being around 200$.

Not a great deal but I was fine with it. Dealers can’t keep them in stock here, they get 1-2 in and they’re gone in 2 days. I had multiple dealerships refuse to go anything off sticker.

Bonus for me was I watched this vehicle get taken off the truck and was the first person to drive it. Had 3 miles on it @ delivery.

If anyone is in this area looking I can give you some insight on what dealers to avoid to save you time.
I'm in the Central Florida area on the hunt for a white TRD Off Road Premium without a sunroof. I know they're WAY difficult to find, but every now and then one appears. You mentioned dealerships to avoid to save headaches. I've been in contact with several and with this crazy automotive market, if you tell them you're interested in one and want more details, all I've gotten is crickets unless you want to come in and test drive, which I've already done. Who are the better ones to work with? Thanks so much for the info! :)

Don’t mention it, brother!

It took me forever to find a TRD ORP non-kdss with no sunroof. “Pre-pro” in 2018.

Being an idiot, I accidentally let it slip about the sunroof and got hosed for it. I don’t think I’ve ever paid more to have a deleted option.

In Austin, Texas & have reached out to multiple dealerships locally and several hours away the last 3 weeks. No one is taking orders or able to I’ve been told. They’re just able to take $500 & lock in the one you want if it becomes available. I’ve been told by more than a few dealers to wait until the 2022 model releases. Any guesses or news on when that will be?

Good to know! Didn't think about get penalized for not wanting a moonroof. I'll keep that in mind.

21 Classic Silver ORP with sunroof, rear sliding deck, and LED interior kit.

I called what felt like every dealership from South FL up to Virginia and could not find a single one in stock, or anything on the way. I wanted no/minimal options since most dealers add on a bunch of useless crap.

I paid $44,900 (MSRP) plus TTL etc which was about 48700 OTD. It was about a week out from arrival, and surprisingly didn't have a deposit yet. I wanted black or magnetic grey but none were enroute or available for at least a month.

I paid sticker for my ORP (KDSS/moonroof) from One Toyota of Oakland. That said, the sticker included a few silly things of arguable merit to bump up the sticker to $47,576.
Could have done without the wheel locks, ball mount and dual charger deal.

This was partially offset from a very fair trade in on my GX and truthfully in NorCal felt pretty blessed to get one 2 months after purchasing the Lexus.

There were none in all of Arkansas. None in Dallas, Memphis, or St Louis. The dealership in St Louis was nice enough to run 300 mile search and found 2 in Mo. Drove the 3.5hr to West Plains Toyota and brought home my 21 silver ORP with predator steps and sunroof for sticker minus the "wild" discount of I think $600. Total OTD, minus taxes was $45.6k. Nice people. Called to make sure they still had it and told them I was on my way to pick it up. It was washed, gassed up, and keys in it by the time I got there. Was there for about 1.5hrs total.

On a side note. They asked me several questions about my intentions with the vehicle. Apparently, some dealerships are sending people out to buy them at sticker, then selling them on their lots for markup.

So what’s the deal with “ordering” a 4Runner? Local dealer told me today that mother Toyota was not accepting any customer orders - or as he called it “special orders”. He said that all any dealer could do was wait to see what Toyota released each day and redirect something. I asked him to confirm that Toyota would not accept a SOLD order and would prefer a “maybe this will sell” order. Anyone else able to recently place an order for what they want and just wait?

I went to North Hollywood Toyota 2 years ago when I was ready to buy amd they did the same jargon on ORP going $10k over MSRP. I found Carson toyota and they did 10% off MSRP, no negotiations. Ended up getting a 2020 for a friend and they gave the same deal.

Which Carson dealership? I called Carson in LA 5 minutes ago and fleet sales manager told me every vehicle - RAV4, Camry, ANYTHING - was $5k over MSRP. Period. I expected it but was super hopeful after your post that maybe they were doing enough volume to be able to avoid the greed everyone else seems to be plagued with.

I will say this though - perhaps these cats are asking $$$ above sticker because they have no inventory to sell thus no revenue thus no way to keep the lights on. I wanna say their being shamefully “price gouging” but maybe I’m not looking at it the right way….

Nope i put a deposit down 2 weeks ago due to
This. No orders allowed just give them a good faith deposit to secure one inbound that you want. It’s a wild time

My dealer said they could start ordering new 4Runners yesterday. I put in an order for a TRD Off Road Premium! 12 weeks minimum wait. They won't go under MSRP, due to the inventory shortage. (At least they didn't go over)

This was my first post in the 5th gen section. I guess I'll be posting here a lot more now. lol

2022 or 2021 model?

Just picked up my 2021 TRD Pro and paid MSRP (as agreed on last year in fall when I ordered it).

Some people at the dealership were not happy about that.

And I'm sure they didn't keep bringing it up during negotiating financing and add-ons, trying to guilt you into more because you were already getting "such a great deal" on the vehicle.

Made an account because all this dealership hate is just uncalled for. Every dealership is a franchise and therefore each dealership is run differently (yes I know there are large dealership groups). If you don't like your dealership, find another.

I negotiated a 2021 Lunar Rock back in Q1 before the market went wild at 50,000 + TTL. I took delivery this month. The negotiated price was honored, not once was I made to feel they would renege on the offer and not once did they mention they could make more money than the negotiated price today.

I purchased my 2019 white 4Runner TRD OffRoad w/ KDSS, brand new no milage out the door with taxes license fees etc. for $41k. That is here in SoCal. I also got the 12 year Toyota Platinum warranty for $1100 I believe through my retired mom.

Placed a deposit on a 2022 4Runner TRD Pro a couple of weeks ago. Blind hope that it has BSM from the rumor mill. If not i'll just take my deposit back.
