How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Have not taken delivery yet, but put a deposit down for MSRP on an ORP that is estimated to arrive on the 30th.

My dealer (Miller in Manassas VA) is showing a couple of 2022s inbound, they have VINs but no window stickers yet.

I received confirmation from my dealer today that the ORP I requested will actually be a 2022 model and begin build on August 20 and be ready at the dealership by mid to late September, but I live in Portland where vehicles are received.

I can only speak to the TRD Pro I ordered. I was told it could be "up to 3 months" and that was on Friday August 6th. The dealer called me last Friday and said they're hoping to have a firm(er) date this week but so far no info yet. He did say the 2022's have started production and that they already have some inbound.

Getting back into the 4Runner lifestyle soon after a 2 year break, this time in the Midwest. Got quotes for:

2022 Lunar Rock TRD ORP w/kdss for $48k + TTL
2021 Gray Venture w/kdss for $48k + TTL
2022 Lime Rush TRD PRO for $62k + TTL (yeah, lol)
2021 Gray TRD ORP w/kdss for $48k + TTL
2022 Army Green TRD ORP without KDSS for $46k + TTL

Just an FYI out there... midwest dealers are quoting on-the-lot availability in October for 2022 models, including the lime one. That Lunar Rock is tempting. All prices are MSRP with no discounts, except for the typical PRO markup.

Once it hits the 60k mark I don't see the point in getting a 4runner over a Lexus. That's nuts.

Dealership in Central FL had a deal fall through on a 2021 TRD ORP in white with pro step bars, LED light upgrade, and window tinting. No sunroof, which is what I wanted. Was $44,837, not including TTL and fees. I was happy to find one in a premium trim WITHOUT a sunroof and grabbed it and drove it home last night.

Nice! My Venture does not have the moonroof and I really do miss having one as my ORP did.
That said, the weather here is absurdly conducive to the moonroof this time of year.
That said, in needing to replace my ORP, KDSS was the dealbreaker as it rules.

I actually called the friend of mine who took mercy on me after my ORP got totaled and put me in the Venture (MSRP both) l and he said the availability is going to be next to impossible for some time to get a ‘22 KDSS ORP with KDSS.

My first post here, and hate that it’s a rant, but here goes……

Contacted dealer here in Houston (Toyota of Katy) about a 2021 TRD Pro in Lunar Rock they just got in. Salesman sent me an email with a quote of $53,456. Scheduled a time and drove about an hour from home to meet him. When I got to the dealership, he showed me the truck and said the price is $79,190. You can imagine my surprise, and I showed him the email he sent me. He got his supervisor who told me that because of supply and demand, the price adjustment had been set to that price. I was all set to go full male-Karen on them, but thought better, as I didn’t want to become an instant “YouTube sensation.”

I did tell them as firmly as I could that they are a deceitful and dishonest dealership in their customer communication, that I wasted three hours of my time, not to mention a wasted vacation day, just to go buy the TRD Pro, for which I was prepared to write a check for the full amount. I had no problem with them trying to negotiate a price at some amount over MSRP, but $25k over?!? I don’t think so. Not to mention them waiting to spring it on me after several exchanges prior to my showing up on the lot leading me to believe otherwise.

I asked to speak to the general manager of the dealership, but was given an excuse that he was unavailable. Went home and fired off an email and letter to the dealership and Toyota USA (just help me vent, as I expect absolutely nothing as far as a response). I’ll tell everyone I know to avoid this dealership!

I called two other dealerships in Houston (and they both were extremely surprised with, a. the price adjustment, and b. that the salesman wasn’t upfront about the real asking price).

I did make a deal over the phone for a 2021 ORP at $46,705 that will be delivered in another week.

If anyone wants to fire up CarGurus.com there are freaking NIGHTSHADES going for $60k+ in CA.

Mine was $51,xxx MSRP, $1000 Keep It Wild Cash, and got them to come up $2k more on my trade.

They won’t take anything off the price of the vehicle so you just have to get it elsewhere.

They have a 2015 Inferno Pro at a local dealer, asking almost 41K for it. Has 85k miles.

I just put a deposit on a 2022 SR5 here in Canada… the salesman let me know a few days later that there is one in the pipe that should supposedly be coming in toward end of October. I just paid MSRP, didn’t bother negotiating on anything other than my trade in vehicle. Between the fact that it is a brand new model year, the dealer had none in stock, there is high demand and a 40% production cut I am happy to pay MSRP (for the first time in my life on a vehicle).

Dealer called me today about a '21 Venture (MGM in color) arriving Sept 7th and they want MSRP plus doc fees. I'm first in line for it but I'm likely going to decline as it's not the color I want and I really want a '22 TRDP.

Speaking of the 2022 TRDP, according to Toyota's 2022 4Runner spec pdf, the TRDP is the only model to NOT have the anti-theft engine immobilizer. I'm hoping that's a typo because I don't want anyone stealing my 4R!

We got ours in May of this year and at the time, there were dealers asking 3-5k over sticker for everything but the TRDP. The TRDP in Lunar Rock was so sought after that the one dealer wanted 15k over sticker for theirs. I felt ok paying sticker, plus doc fees, delivery, and the wheel/tire combo. It has since appreciated to more than what I paid according to KBB.

For a 2021 TRD Pro I paid MSRP plus $1600 for a dealership-forced "package," and $1000 in dealership fees. The rest was TTL.

The dealership package included a "free" lifetime unlimited miles power train warranty, tinted windows which look quite good, and Nitrogen service.

The hardest part was getting one at all. Next was having to wait so long. Next was watching the value of my used car go down as I waited.

The good part of purchasing during this chip shortage is that the value of used cars is insanely high. So I rationalized that buying a TRD Pro as close as possible to MSRP while getting top dollar for the trade-in was a good deal, because Toyota likes to see Pros sold at or near MSPR even in normal times.

I happened to check out the KBB value of my trade-in back in April. It was around $12K. The value of my trade-in at the time of the sale in late August was just under $19K.

I'm okay with the deal as a whole.

The more I read these posts the more I see how lucky I was to get mine in April $2k off sticker.

The good news is that these trucks are good deals at MSRP.

I think the revised 4Runner will have the “updated” power train that is disliked like the Tacoma’s and that we’re going to get fantastic resale for the life of the vehicle, simply because it’s the model enthusiasts want. Similar to the FJ, and a lot like the 2015 or whatever year the last Tacoma ended. My buddy has the last year of the good Tacoma and people just walk up and offer him stupid money for it. He’s actually who got me to grab this gen 4Runner before they’re gone.
