How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Just bought my 2022 TRD ORP in Army Green for $44,808. Looked for weeks and finally found a Army Green with mostly what I wanted (no KDSS which sucks) but I could only get $500 of MSRP. Very frustrating but I was just tired of banging on dealers for weeks trying to get close to invoice. I gave up.

Wow. That’s great price. I am looking for same color and trim… I don’t want to pay for accessories and package which they are forcing on every 4runner to make money over already overpriced cars.

Dude, call Dick Hannah in Kelso WA. They have one more on the way from what they told me which is basically the same one as mine.

That is if you are in the Pacific NW area.

Dang, it has Softex seats without heaters? I think the dual zone climate control is still exclusive to the Limited and Pro trims. If it wasn't a lease you could retrofit it using the write-up from Old Red.

As it turns out the Softex seats are not as cold as the leather seats on my other cars. Very comfortable car though; wife loves it.

I wanted the blind spot mostly, do a ton of highway driving. The rear cross was a added perk and the high beams being led now but mostly wanted blind spot. Otherwise, I think they are the same

Take care with the RCTA - unless it has the sensors in the rear bumper it detects vehicles via the rear camera but is not good at seeing pedestrians walking behind the car. Our 2022 TRD Sport has effective BSM but is without the bumper sensors that are provided on the Limited.

Hi everyone,

Looking to get some feedback on the below offer.

2022 4Runner limited for $49433 OTD with $5k down.

I know I’m getting fleeced somewhat, but in this market is this good?

Thanks!
DevTom

Thank you! The MSRP was around 50k with a market adjustment of 5k added to that originally.

So just for clarification. Is that 5k down on top of the 49k (54k total) or is that 5k included in the 49k price? If it’s on top then it’s too much but I know it’s a challenge in this market.

If you’re not in a hurry shop around the entire country. There are services that will purchase the car for you and have it shipped to your place. It will be much cheaper.

For example my dealer is asking 15k over MSRP but someone on this thread earlier said his dealer was asking $500 over MSRP. If it was me I would buy from that dealer and pay $500-$1,500 to have someone buy it for me and have it shipped or you can hop on a plane and get it your self and drive it back. If that saves me 14k-13k it’s worth the hassle. That’s what I did. I shopped for for about 6 months and finally found one at a good price. Flew to Denver, bought my 4Runner and paid $750 to have it shipped to Californa. I got it 6 days later. I paid 33k for mine and spent about a grand to get it. If I was able to drive it home I probably could haves saved myself another $400 if but I didn’t have the time.

Yes, the $5k down is on top of the $49k offer. Thanks for the tip, I’m definitely going keep shopping around and see what I can find.

2022 SR5 premium

Hey guys, my car got totaled and I got 39k for it. Now I'm in the market for a new car at a terrible time. I'm pretty certain I can get the car for MSRP but family friend advised me to wait till march at least since factories are fully running again (Jan) and hopefully incentives are coming out.

Do you guys think they will start having some deals soon for the 4runner or not really? I have a family car that I can drive meanwhile but I just don't believe they will have any deals soon.

Also, SR5 premium (I randomly called a local dealer and told me 44k) vs. ORP seems like there's only 2-3k$ difference. Is it worth the difference or not really if you don't plan on going hard offroad?

If you have another car to drive I don't see any big reason to rush. Cars are more expensive now than ever before. I would absolutely get an Off Road Premium over the SR5P. As you mentioned, the price difference in minimal but you gain a lot by going ORP.

I highly doubt the market will get much better by March... The larger dealers in CA who are selling 4Runners at MSRP seem to have waitlists of 20-30+ people (just for 4Runners), mainly for the Offroad Premium and Pro. I'm not sure about the SR5 though (they seem to be easier to find). I am currently on 4 dealer waitlists in CA for an ORP at MSRP, and two of them have told me to expect another 3-4+ months before my name gets called. One dealer also mentioned they don't expect to "catch up" until around Q3-Q4 this year.

If you're okay with paying a markup over MSRP for an ORP, I'm sure you can easily get one sooner.

I'm curious what the demand will look like as those who are on multiple waitlists (myself included) finally get their allocation and the backlog starts to drain. I imagine Toyota's build forecasts are near-term and pretty fluid but there could be as much as 30% waitlist demand which isn't real; we may see a huge uptick in 4Runner availability as they start to break the logjam.

I hope that's the case! Fingers crossed.

Last week, two dealers in the Los Angeles region said the market is still strong and their customers continue to pay above MSRP, so they have no immediate plans to remove the markups.

On top of that, one of the dealers tried to convince me that my name would continue to be bumped further down on waitlists because other customers are offering to pay above sticker and get priority. I decided to find out for myself, so I called up one of my dealers and offered to pay above sticker. My sales rep actually chuckled at me and explained that's not how they do business and they will NOT take a penny above MSRP, ever...She also went on to say I was the third person that day to offer to pay above MSRP (and get turned down) to be bumped up on their waitlist.

Picked up a OFF ROAD premium with no sunroof. Only KDSS and running board from the manufacture. $46,640 after the $750 wild discount thing. Dealer add on paint and interior protection around 1k. Wheel and tire warranty around 1k. Gap insurance under a grand. These are considered mark up but with something rather than just a price bump. Some how I got a grand discount from using true car. Not my first choice to buy a new car in this market but because my 4th gen was totaled by a drunk driver. I consider this to be a great deal here in California.

I paid msrp on my 2022 white TRD PRO. Came to like $58k otd. Called dealer around Halloween and had it right after christmas

This is a good question. Did you place deposits as well when you got on each wait list? I don't know if it's true or not, but one dealer told me that those with deposits down are viewed differently than just the standard long list of interested people. Supposedly Toyota will prioritize allocation to those that have money down and not just a request. Doesn't sound like a scam since deposits here are fully refundable anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wonder if Toyota really has that level of visibility into the operations of each dealership. Maybe your dealer was referring to how they perceive deposits versus just waitlists?

In my case I'm first in line for my dealer's next allocation that fits my spec, secured with a paid deposit. I'm also on another dealer's list who insisted they wouldn't take deposits and still took a build as a 'preference order' they submitted on my behalf, but I'm something like 26th in line for a Pro with that dealer.....so I'm not holding my breath on that one :lmao:

would you say the samething if I have a car to trade-in? In other words, try to negotiate to get a good price for the trade-in vs. getting an incentive later which we are not even sure there will be any this year.

I personally would not expect any sort of 4runner incentives this year. Heck, even before COVID (when they were readily available) most were considered lucky to get just a few thousand off on them.

If you trade in your current car, I'm assuming you won't have anything else to drive, correct? If that were the case, I'd lean more towards trading it in now if you can find a new 4runner available at MSRP.
