How much did you buy/sell your 3rd gen for this year?

I am toying with the idea of selling my '99 4Runner. It's an SR5 highlander edition with 160k miles. KBB and Edmunds both come in at about $4.5K for private party sale, but searching CL, Autotrader and Cars.com I see a lot of private party listings for $6K-$7K.
If I list it I'll go on the high end and negotiate down, but was just curious to know what folks are paying.

I've been seeing some pretty cheap ones in Arizona/Vegas. I picked up a 99 sr5 with 230k for 4500 in phoenix. the guy just had all fluids done and replaced water pump, timing belt, etc. I don't know how this stacks up elsewhere but its definitely better than what they cost in Hawaii, same truck would run me around 7k

I ran across a 99 Highlander, 150k miles, 4wd without elocker, in Georgia a few months ago that sold in 1 day for $7,500....it was in excellent condition, both interior and exterior.

Bought my '97 Limited with 176k for 4.5k. It was already lifted on 33" BFG KMs with a matching spare.

bought mine in March 2015, paid $3600....'01 sr5, auto, 4x4, 143k miles, needed tires, rear brakes, an alignment, but everything else was in good condition. po had listed $4000 firm, but i somehow got him to come down a few hundred.

I bought my '98 for $350.00 with 96,000 miles and a bad motor, I got a motor with 178,000 on it for $200.00 and installed it for around $200.00 in fluids, gaskets, etc.,..
All she needs is tires and a windshield and she's good for another 200k miles..

Mine is a 2000 Limited, Auto, towing package, leather, sunroof, 4wd with elocker, 190k miles....the interior is very clean(1 owner-female owned, never off road), the exterior has quite a few bruises on the bumper, but other than that the body is great.....paid $4000

I just bought a 2000 SR5 with 200,000 miles(324080 kilometers) for $1680 USD! Manual, V6, towing package, sun roof, very clean interior and exterior, a little rust on the front bumper and some surface rust beneath (Canadian truck). 4Runners are very cheaper where I'm from!

This past December i purchased a silver 02 SR5 with leather interior and only 87k miles for $5800. Undercarriage is clean also, no frame rust. It only needed a r/rear axle seal and brake shoes to pass state inspection. I put it on my lift to inspect the frame & undercarriage before money exchanged hands. The seller was looking at me like i'm crazy when i pulled out a small hammer and started tapping on the frame!

I've bought two 96 4runners in the last 8 months. I paid $1000 for each one. Both have just under 200k, but run good. The first one had rusty bumpers and rockers but frame was good. Replaced bumpers and rockers myself so about 2 grand into it now. The other one is in good shape with no rust, needs rear axles seals and brakes and tires then it will be road worthy.

Bought my 2000 in January with 193K on the clock. Needed the timing belt done and an tune up, and the climate control needed fixed. everything else worked great, including the locker. No rust. I had to drive to Utah to get it though cause all of them I found in Vegas didn't have the options I wanted. Paid 4K.

I've had mine for closer to two years, but it had a little over 170k on it when I bought it. No rust (spend most of its days in HI and FL) but the interior was filthy and there's a pretty good dent on the lift gate where the previous owner backed into a boat trailer. I paid $4k for it, and while I've done a lot of work to it, none of it was due to a breakdown. It hit 205k on my way home Saturday.

It seems like the prices for good ones have gone up some since then, but there are still a lot of people out there who don't realize what they have and will just go by book value. There are deals to be had, but they don't come along nearly as often as they used to.
