How much would my lift install cost

I'll let you know Wednesday... dropped my T4R off at the local Toyota dealer this afternoon to have LR UCAs and a Toytec Ultimate Lift put on. I figured on 8-10 hours labor... time will tell.

Where do you live?
Try to find a local 4x4 or offroad shop as they have more experience. Not sure if a Toyota dealership would do it because of Liabilty reasons plus they would be very expensive.
I'd do it for $150-200 if you are local to DFW area.About a 6 hour job and a extra hour or 2 more on a Limited to remove the X-Reas.Still would need an pro alignment but I'd get it pretty close.

That's a great price!
I could see it done in a experienced shop with a lift in 4 hours or less.
I'm working with floorjacks and jackstands crawling around on the floor in my garage and did it in 6-7 hours for the first time on a Runner.
Plus...... I'm a Union worker and take a break every 30 minutes.:vader::vader:
Harper, I'd like to take you up on that $200 for an install... I was quoted $1100 from TODallas for a 10hr job. :shrug: I think it would take me 10hrs to do the install, but a tech w/a lift?! They did my OME lift on my Taco a few years back for around $400... guess I'm missing something.

I would help you out for a case of beer. I did the whole Total Chaos long travel setup on my truck myself. Im all the way down in Kyle TX though.
You should buy the Firestone lifetime alignment. It works nationwide and I have on my Tacoma and my 4-Runner.

Sorry for the old thread revival. But I am currently weighing out my options.
Current quote from Fat Bob's in Utah is as follows:
$630 out the door including alignment to install my used OME 3in medium kit and TC UCA. Seems a bit high to me. That is 5 hours of labor at $126/hour
I am weighing the pros and cons about doing it myself which in all honesty will take me at least 8-9 hours and 3 trips to the auto parts store.
Is this an insane quote? Seems high to me.

How new is your truck? Are the coilovers assembled or do you need to reuse your top hats? It looks like you have KDSS, which complicates things for a DIYer(I have no experience with it). The quote sounds reasonable to me.
With a two post lift it shouldn't take more than 4-5 hours to do the whole thing. On my 2nd gen Tacoma(which has an almost identical front end) it took me two hours to do the front shocks and coils and that was because I pulled the cam bolts and anti-seized them. I was also using a floor jack and jack stands. I did not replace the UCA's at the time but those are not difficult either.
On the front(without KDSS) it's stupid simple. Wheels off, sway bar disconnected, remove lower coilover bolt, loosen top mount nuts, disconnect lower ball joint, loosen alignment cams(after marking them), swing LCA out of the way, remove top mount nuts, and then pull the coilover out. Since you're already in there pull the alignment cams and coat them and the bolts in anti-seize. In my case it paid off big time to have Toytec assemble the coilovers and if I go with Bilsteins again they will come to me assembled.

That said, if you have the time and resources, I think doing it yourself is a worthwhile project.
When I was out of work I decided to lift the truck and do it myself. The money I saved went to buying all my tools and some more parts like bump stops and other goodies.
The acquisition of tools though the process opened up doors for other stuff too. I ended up doing my own brakes and lines after getting comfortable working down there along with other maintenance and project items.
The process wasn't without sweat, frustration, and swear words... but the experience and tool box growth alone was worth it.

That's pretty fair IMO. Most places will not give you an install discount if you didn't order parts through them. If you did they'd probably do all that for $350-400 OTD. So if you're just dropping off a bunch of parts at a place to have them install it I think that's a fair deal since it includes alignment which another $80 itself.
I went through the same decision not too long ago and decided to just install it myself. It took about 10 hours since it was the first time I ever did suspension work and there's always something that doesn't go to plan. Also doesn't help that my garage is tiny AF. Would I do it again? Not sure but I at least learned a new skill and have a bunch of shiny new tools which I'll have in the future. As others have said if you do install yourself definitely get the struts pre-assembled. Don't mess around with spring compressors which can be pretty dangerous.
I know it's further from you but I'd give Cruiser Outfitters (Sandy) or Ultimate 4x4 (Orem) a call.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to have to sleep on it. It is the balance between what my time is worth and having the correct tools. I know I can rent some as I used to work on my STI often and that was my go to. But with every project it seems it will always take me 2 more hours or more than expected. I am not against doing the lift myself but if the price was right I would of course have someone else do it. The shop has an Ok... rep some hate them and others live by them. But I would have to use the same top hat.

Cruiser Outfitters was my first choice. I trust those guys with anything Toyota. But they will not install used lifts. I actually just got a quote from some cool guys in South Ogden that are saying $500 OTD. Yes I know that is still a bit of coin. I know how to install suspension the factor is time which I have a finite amount of. I am going to go that route. It just seems like the better choice.
Save your self money I just install the bilstein 6112/5160 with wheeler t13 on a limited.. took me about 4 hours with a box of beer.. now it's at the dealer getting it alignment.. save myself about $1,200 that a 4x4 wanted to charge for taking out the xreas and installing the new suspension..

My dealer installed Toytec Ultimate was a little over 1,700 including alignment and the kit. Since the kit is around 1,300 that leaves the install at about 400.
