How strong are brake lines?

So tonight I did rotors and pads on my 2003 SR5 and while I was wrenching down on the caliper bolt to get them loose I bent the metal brake line. I bent it back into it's original position, got everything back together and checked for leaks after I broke in the new brakes and so far there aren't any leaks.

Am I good to go or do I need to replace them, bleed them out and that whole PITA?

They're pretty forgiving in my experience. Steel by its nature doesn't generally like being bent back and forth releatedly but once or a couple times a LITTLE bit shouldn't matter. What kills a brake line is a kink. Kink=replacement.

I'd roll with it.

thanks 4Reak, yea I'll keep an eye on it for leaks over the next week and go from there. I hit it pretty hard on accident but bent it back and don't see any kinks. If there is one thing I hate doing it's bleeding brake systems lol.

While I was under there I noticed my shocks need replacement so that'll be next on the list here.

I doubt it will leak, steel brake lines if damaged enough to leak will do so immediately, they are by design capable of bending to form to the application, as long as mentioned you do not kink them.

That being said if you were to go to the parts store to buy a replacement it would be straight and would have to be carefully bent to the shape needed for the application, so watch it if makes you feel better but rest easy as I don't think you have anything to worry about, if it were going to leak it would already be doing so!
