how to get rid of the air bag light indicaator on dash

hi guys i just recently found out how to start a thread lol newbee on here.
but yea ive been searching a little but didnt find anything on this problem iv been having with my 97 4runner. the air bag light on the cluster camme on and at first it would come and go but now it just stays on.
Can anyone help please thanks

Actually a 97 is a 3rd gen.

OP, the light is on due to a failure in the airbag system.
Do you care if your airbags work? (honest question)
If you do, you need to get it repaired, probably at a dealer.

You should have it looked at. The issue isn't so much that the plastic of the bags goes bad, it is that there is an explosive device used to inflate it. It can be quite dangerous if not operating correctly.


If you don't care about having it, at least take it to someone and have it professionally turned off and the explsove removed.

+1 on that. There are few warning lights that give me more anxiety than the airbag light. There's just something about having an explosive device right at chest/face level that is malfunctioning in some way...

Ive driven many cars for many many miles with the airbag lights on with no issues. If you don't care that the airbag won't deploy in a crash, then it really doesn't matter.

Sorry this is such an old thread but I cannot create a new one yet being a Newbie.

My 2006 sport V6 has the airbag light on. Flash codes: 18 23 25 27

Does anyone know where I can start? Light was on when I bought the truck and I have had the dash/seats apart and put back together. Not sure if that made any difference since the light was on originally.

Any help would be great, this truck has some gremlins
