Please don't drill me for asking this. What is the best way to paint my grill black? Give me the steps as i have not done this before. What materials do i use?

Use Plasti Dip. Assuming you're talking about that chrome trim piece, first open your hood and take off the plastic radiator cover. All you need to do is pop out those circular tabs. They come out super easily. Then you'll need to squeeze the tabs behind that chrome trim piece and just pull it off. Very easy. I cleaned the chrome piece with rubbing alcohol and then sprayed about 6 coats of the Plasti Dip. Start out light for your first couple coats. Then just reinstall. Good luck.

Thanks. Kind of. At that point I didn't even mask off around them. Just sprayed thick enough to be able to pull the dip from around it off. I got into the back of the handles as much as I could but they're not fully coated in that area. You don't see it anyway. But for future reference, when you do mask off where you want to paint, make sure you leave about an inch between what you're spraying and the tape. This will make it much easier to peel off and shouldn't peel what you intended to spray. Any overspray can be easily wiped off with a microfiber towel.
Thanks. I've been seeing more and more plasti-dip threads lately, and it's inspiring me to dip my whole rig. I like the black, but I think I'll go desert tan...

A couple of the guys on here have done it to their whole trucks. There's also talk between a buddy of mine (who's also on here) and I about doing ours. I'm just not sure about doing it yet, but the more it goes in the woods, the more pin striping I see. I may just do it for that reason alone.

There's an FJ near me dipped in desert tan and it looks AWESOME! In fact, I never liked FJs until I saw this one. I am strongly considering giving my wife the 4Runner and buying an FJ for myself.
I like the desert tan, it's hard having a black vehicle in the desert. My only dilemma is how to handle the bumpers, as I have an SR5, and it would seem to work better on a Trail, with the black plastic bumpers already. Unless I get some new bumpers:rockon:, but I'm trying to spring things on the wife a bit at a time, so's I don't get the other half of my butt chewed off...
