How to remove passenger kick pannel

OK hive mind, I'm trying to remove the passenger kick panel. I removed the door sill plate, and unscrewed the little plastic nut at the front of the panel. From what I've been told, at that point you can just pull the panel back towards the rear of the vehicle and it comes off.

I tried that, but it feels like the panel is attached pretty firmly to something at the top of the panel right where the panel meets the door.

Is it simply there is a clip there that needs a good hard pull, or is there something else I need to unscrew or otherwise remove?

I'm a measure twice cut once kind of person, so before I just pull really hard and screw something up that I have to spend a bunch of money fixing, I thought for sure someone here has had that panel off and can help me out.

Thanks!

There's a little round plastic clip at the top that comes out if you pull STRAIGHT back towards the rear of the truck. Also, at the bottom of the kick panel, there's a clip that's attached to the rubber weather stripping and grips the bottom of the kick panel. Again, pull straight back firmly and it will come off. You'll probably have to put the clips back in place before putting the panel back on, you'll see what I mean when you get it off.

Thanks. Firm yank worked. Of course, the top clip lost one of it's 4 prongs ... I'm sure it would still work, but Toyota will sell me another one for $2.50 (no profit margin there!) so I'll grab one tomorrow after wiring done and I need to re-assemble.

Thats what she said.
