How to remove trim on door panel?

Is the trim piece (the one that matches the trim on the dash around the radio) on the doors easy to remove?

Is it glued on or clipped on? I need to remove it so that I can get it wrapped with an aluminum gloss look/or silver CF vinyl wrap.

Ya somebody ! Was trying to get that off myself , was gonna plasti-dip it . Got the flat blade n there but didn't want to get crazy , looks like its glued ?
 
I do believe it's that double sided tape, real thin stuff. Heared someone used string to get behind it. I used the same stuff and used a sawing motion to remove.
 
Does anyone know if you can buy replacement trim pieces? Bought a brand new T4R and it had a scratch and dealer claims no part exists to replace it... Must replace entire door panel? I know, seems excessive!

If I remember correctly, the trim strips that you speak of on the door panels are actually "Melt welded" to the door panels. What I mean to say is the the trim panels have little plastic "posts" that insert into holes on the door panels and are then "melted" to permanently seal them. In fact, most of the door panel pieces on 4th gen door panels are attached in this same manner. And no, Toyota does NOT... I repeat DOES NOT offer said trim strips as independent parts. You have to purchase the entire door panel. I've already done the research. Your best bet (and the method that I am going to use), is to remove the door panels, sand trim with 600 grit sand paper, mask off the trim, paint to color of your liking, then seal with a 2k Urethane gloss. I experimented with a spare 4th gen center console that I had laying around in the garage. I sanded and repainted a dull silver, then 2k Urethane gloss with EASTWOOD 2k Urethane gloss aerosol can (google it) and it turned out absolutely beautiful.

Previous owner had a pet that messed up the top near the window on a coupel doors, I'm gonna look into replacement door panels since I can't find the individual part

Listen to him, this is exactly how trim pieces mounted to the doors. I had plans to take them off to wrap with vinyl, but after slightly bending one out to check whats on the back I realized they "melted" permanently with plastic posts. I ended up applying vinyl right in place. Worked great.

Sorry bud, but I'm not yanking out my door panel purely to provide you with pics. You'll either have to take my word for it or yank your panel and verify for yourself. And BTW, you can usually find used 4th gen door panels on Ebay for around $150.00 per.

Thought you had said you had painted the center console trim, was wondering what it looked like. My bad if I misunderstood

Oh, well then I apologize for not understanding which part of my comment that you were responding to. Yes, I did sand, paint and 2k Urethane coat a spare center console trim piece (long story on how I ended up with two 4th gen center consoles) and it turned out FANTASTIC! I think I still have said spare test part out in the garage and will shoot a pic of it for your review. Oh, and just a comment on the "dash kits": I looked into doing one of those as well, but then I saw a friends BMW that had one installed and it looked CHEAP/CHEEZY. It looked like something that a high school kid working at Jack and the Box did on his lunch hour just after installing the neon lighting in his fender wells. Sorry for the negative comment, but I figured you might want someone else's opinion on the matter. Anyway, good luck with which ever route you take!

Totally agree, I wouldn't to the whole dash and all the trim, just the top portion on the doors (See picture) Whatever I did, I want it to look OEM quality when finished, not ricey
