How to remover gray plastic on doors?

I took to it with a flat head an tried to pry it off but it would my budge. Then it left a scuff an indent on that black pleather'ey part. How do I go about removing this for cleaning and painting? (the gray part on the door it's like a long rectangle with curved edges, beside the handle in the inside) just to clarify what I'm talkin about!! Thanks on advance!

Are you talking about the molding? They come off but this requires that you break all of the clips holding it on. If you wanted to take them off and paint them make sure you order ALL of the clips that hold it on. Chances are most of the clips will break if not all of them; that's just how it is designed.

Yep, I gave up getting mine off. I just used some painter's tape & paper to mask off around them before I painted mine. Turned out fine.

The OP is talking about the grey trim insert in the armrest/handle on the interior of the door, not the molding on the outside lower part of pre-2004 models.

I doubt that part comes off, it wouldn't surprise me if they have it glued or otherwise fused. You might want to use a putty knife, though. That would at least keep you from making a mess of the pleather/vinyl, even just using a putty knife to spread the force while you pry with a regular screwdriver would minimize the damage.

I actually just ended up masking it off. An yes ^^^ talking about interior gray piece.
