How to seafoam?

Instead of pulling the brake booster line pull the pcv valve line off the on the driver's side valve cover.

I get the idea but I'm young and I don't know which valve that is. Could someone show a picture of it? Where can I get this stuff? Am I really only suppossed to use 1/3 of it haha

Go to any auto parts store or even a super walmart should carry it. Yes use 1/3 of the can. You can use a whole can in the gas tank, but make sure you have a full tank of gas.

Pull this hose and pour it in while idling. And I mean pour it in so its goes into the throttle body and not the head.


FYI your engine may look a tad different because toyota redesigned the 4.7 intake in 05, but the pcv valve should be in the same place

Beretta, THIS is probably the thread you are referring to. Either way, it's a great thread on using SeaFoam and there is a lot of info there.

If you want an easier port to use, all you have to do is take off the intake cover. On the driver side, towards the rear, there is a capped off vacuum port. If you have a tube that can fit, you can pour it through there. However, you will need someone to help you for sure. You need to get the engine up to 2400-2600 rpm, before you release the port (hold your thumb over the vacuum port, or itll stall the car). If you pour it in, do it very slowly! I would suggest using the spray can because it is safer, and you can hold the nozzle farther away so it mixes with the air more. Just be careful, and get some help.

Okay so just to verify. This is the hose I should be putting it in for the engine:

And the gas tank is obvious. My plan is to pour 1/3 into the engine, 1/2 into the oil, and a full can into the gas tank.

What is the vacuum line? I've read about that but I don't know where it is or how much to pour into that.

Yes, someone pls post a pic for the V6. Actually I just poured it in right now, I hope I did it right but just to make sure I'll post pics and someone can tell me if it is indeed the right hose.

I fed half a can of the juice into the hose which hopefully is the right tube to pour it into running at about 2000 rpm afterwards I shut off the engine, waited 5-10 mins started her up and voila, no smoke! no I Idea what happened but poured the remaining half a can into the oil reservoir and a full can of seafoam into a full tank of gas.

We'll see what happens...

Oh also drove around for about 10 miles after the medicine to clear her out, did seem more responsive but I didn't see the miraculous gain in the range computer I was expecting.

Btw, I don't think this hose was plugged into the plastic end for the past 7-8 months and I've been driving around like that, any damage could result from this? I think it happened when I took the truck in to get the AFE CAI installed and they forgot to put it back. I know I def didn't do it b/c I didn't even know what it was before today.

had mine seafoamed today, huge plume of white smoke for a 1/4 mile or so haha. seems to run smoother and quieter now, v8 still makes a ticking noise though

If you didn't see the any white smoke then you didn't wrong. Did you direct to the intake or the engine? I seafoamed my wife's Kia with 15k miles on it and it smoked. Not a lot but enough to notice. My neighbor has a 05 V6 4R that I will find the correct hose on. I may just post a video at some point of both the V8 and V6 and put this issue to bed.

I actually did another half a can a tonight into the evap vsv tube and noticed white smoke during the pour in, shut off and let it sit for half an hour, started her up (quick to start) and more smoke while driving around. I think I did it right this time.

I have the V6 with 190+ on it- finally seafoamed the motor! This pic was a HUGE help!

I used the EVAP VSV hose; the amount of smoke I got was astonishing. Someone else mentioned the hose once you pull it off and use it for suctioning in the fluid while the motor is running can be tricky. It's a balance of placing your finger over the vacuum line just enough to allow fluid to be slurped in. You'll get it when you see what I'm talking about.

Idle is WAY smoother and quiet.
Throttle response is spot on.
MPG's... who knows, I may see increases, I'm mostly after removing what I imagine to be large amounts of gunk after 190 THOUSAND miles. I left it in for only 5 minutes as the bottle stated. I did notice before I shut the motor off as I was suctioning in the fluid, the tailpipe already began to emit smoke, which made me wonder if I was actually burning sludge, varnish or if I was truly burning the Seafoam fluid? When I started the motor after 5 minutes, neighbors ran out of their house thinking there was a fire.

Either way it's done, I can now say I did it. Was a little intimated because I didn't know where to add the Seafoam and I didn't want to screw something up. Solid smoke cloud for about 45 seconds, which is a long time if you think about it. Thanks for the pic, I appreciate it. :cheers:

Did you guys change your plugs after seafoaming?

Every person I have talked to about sea foam (who knows about sea foam) are adamant about changing the spark plugs after this is done. I hear the the burning of this chemical can tarnish the plugs and shorten their life.
