Need better ratio for running 31x10.50 tires. have to downshift from 5th to climb small hills on the freeway. Have 410 now. (manual trans)

wish I could find a set of 456.... but for now I guess Ill get with the rears & hope to find the fronts. or save up & buy new gears for the front.
(he sais there is less than 100k on the rears)

Look for the G144 code on the door jam. This denotes the 4:88 gear option. I got mine out of a '93.

so long as there's no slop in the gearset, it should be fine. While you have it out, you might wanna just do a quick check on the mesh pattern. Just google setting up toyota 3rd and find a link that shows someone doing the pattern check. You can even use some moly grease instead of the yellow paste, although its a bit harder to see the pattern with just grease.

How'd the junk yard tps's work out for ya anyways?

Link with some info on Toyota Diffs:
Erik's Toyota Differential info

I would definitely check the ratio before paying for any Junkyard/used thirds before I paid for them.
These trucks are getting old enough and pass through so many hands that depending on the VIN code or a seller's word that things may have been changed from stock
