How would this work

I want to buy this DVD head unit :

But i am not sure how it would work when it flips out the screen. Would the AC controls get in the way when it tries to flip out? I have a 2002 4runner.

i have a pioneer avic n-2 which is also a flip screen. it covers the ac planel but I like that. mine sits nicely and i have no complaints. it's personal preference.

i don't know how much you're trying to spend but if you wouldn't mind spending more i'd look at different brands like pioneer, sony, alpine, etc.

ive had both a flip out and a double din and honestly i was alot happier with the double din, it looks alot more seamless.

I've got a flip-up Alpine installed in the bottom deck. When it pops out, it just barely clears the auto shifter when in park. When the screen is up, it's hard to adjust the climate controls. One of the buttons on the dvd player drops the face for a few seconds, so it's no big deal.
