Hi y'all, my name is Anna. I'm a first time Toyota owner, and I am told I got the unicorn of all toyotas :) It's an 89 4runner, with a removable top.

I found the forum looking for some troubleshooting advice, but I kinda like the place so I decided to stay.

downpour, those "sliders" look cool as hell don't they? Sadly, I think a blind monkey with one arm could have done a better job welding them. Soonish, I'll use some 2 inch stainless I have just laying around to redo them and the rear bumper (made from the same stuff with just as poor craftsmanship). This rig was used on a hunting lease and there was a rack on top when I bought it. I told the seller to keep the rack because it would just get cut up for scrap if I took it home with me. I do intend to make a sweet little crawler out of her.

Thanks lilred!!! I'm really excited to already find another girl with a 4runner!

lol definitely, they are burly! Too bad the welds suck. It'll prob look better and be a bit more functional for you with that 2" though. I love those 1st gen's, nice truck!

I've only owned her for a week, and I've already been told 3 times that there is NO way I can have an 89 with a removable top. Yet, the title plainly says it. Having a car dealership frame of reference, I know that in most cases production of the next years model starts in August of the previous year. (i.e. 2014 year models will actually start rolling off the assembly line in August 2013) this one was built in August of 88, so I guess there are a few anomalies out there. You and I lucked into 2 of them.
