Well, I new to the site and new to the 4runner world. Did a quick search and found this site and have been lurking for a while. My name it Travis and I'm Havana/Tallahassee Florida. A few weeks ago I purchased a '87 4-Runner with a SAS already done to it. It's an Allpro kit.... http://www.allprooffroad.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=42 It also has the rear kit also. Here are some pics of when I first got it.
I had some 36 radial swampers off my old Chevy that I decided to put on here instead of the MTR's.
It's in pretty good shape(I think). But there are a few things that I'm concerned about. The PO(previous owner), never got it aligned after installing the SAS. He said he did it himself at home with a tape measure. I know there is nothing wrong with temporially, but it shoud be aligned more sooner than later. My concern is that the driverside tire was worn on the inside. How do you adjust the camber on it.....or are the kingpin bearings bad. I did notice a slight clicking noise coming from the hub driving it around the dirt road that I live on.
I haven't registered it yet because I'm trying to sell my old Chevy and just want to transfer the tag and insurance from it when it's sold so I don't have to buy a new tag. That's why I haven't taking it in to the alignment shop.
Another question I had was what axle he put under it. He said it was from a '85 toyota. It has the "truss" going from pumpkin across the axle.
I reckon this weekend I might tear into the axle and see what I can see. The PO also said that he replaced all the bearings on the axle when he did the SAS. But that was a year or so ago.
Sorry for this long post, I just wanted to introduce myself and show what I have. I have also, already done some mods to it sitting under my shop. The old plastic panels in the back rattled constantly, so I contacted a buddy of mone and he hooked me up with some Diamond Plate. Here are some pics.
I still have to get me a piano hinge and latch fo rthe drivers side compartment. I haven't decided if I goign to put one on the passenger side. Oh yeah, I went ahead and upgraded to some Walmart special 6x9's. They sound pretty good.
I had a bunch more pics in here.....but I got an error saying I had to many IMG tags.....What's up with that?!
Alright, I shut up now....
