Hey guys. I'm getting ready to replace my front half-shafts (for CV joint boots) and before taking off the axle nut, you have to remove the grease caps. The repair manual has these listed as non-reuseable parts. However when I went to the parts department at the local Toyota stealership, they said they NEVER have had to order these before.
When I removed the driver's side cap, it got somewhat damaged. I may be able to reuse it by reforming the edges, but my only other real solution is paying $22 ea from the dealership. What have some of you guys done when replacing your half-shafts?
