So I'm in the market for a 4runner and i found what seems to be a good deal on one. 98 4x4 limited 99k miles for 6500. I emailed questions about the timing belt and if it had the e-locker as these were not explained in the ad. Hopefully I'll get a response by tomorrow.

My problem is that i live about 5 hours away and 8 pictures and a small caption about the vehicle isn't enough to really sell me. I was curious if anyone on here is near News Brunswick, NJ and if you are if you could just run by the place and check the vehicle. I know this is a lot to ask but i feel this community is one that would help out. All i really want to know is if the vehicle has any body damage like small dents and scratches. Since it is more likely a city car im sure this truck has some imperfections. The main thing i want to know is if its worth 6500 or if its just a waste of time for me to drive up and look at it.

Thanks to anyone who responds and if you're willing to do this i would be forever grateful (i know it sounds corny but i've been looking for awhile and im getting a tad impatient.)

New Brunswick is a little too far for me since I'm in north Jersey, sorry

I would suggest requesting additional pictures in whatever couldn't be covered with the 8 pics. The under carriage is an important area too for a 13y/o vehicle in a salt state :cheers:
 
Yea i asked for more pictures and the reply i received was that there are 8 in the ad. Then the timing belt issue was replied to by them saying its "ok". I asked a couple more and i did address the under carriage, shape of the tires, and title information as they haven't bought the carfax yet. KBB on the truck is 10k so im being very skeptical on the truck but i do hope this is the deal i have been waiting for.

Don't worry about the price, 4runners are cheaper in the northeast, and many people with get late 90's 4runners for under $7k

Similar story, similar distance (40 min.) But I'm in Brazil until Jan. 15th. That's probably too late, but if anything is going on then I'll try to help.
 
If Weifert can't, I can do it this coming Monday. I have off from work. I would do it earlier, but going to the in-laws this weekend and leaving Thursday. I thought about doing it tonight, but the pics wouldn't come out well.

I'm only 30 minutes away..
 
you guys are awesome. looks like i need to make a list of everyone who wants to help out and see when you can or cant go. The sooner the better would be ideal so its really up to if you can and are wiling to go.
