Who would have thought that, after escaping the Southeast, I'd be paying for humidity.
Anyway, I bought a couple of decent room humidifiers for our rental and they've helped a bit, but don't nearly have the output to make a house feel "normal". That is... to not get the crap shocked out of me every time I touch metal and all the sinus issues. Plus I hate having to refill those damn things every day.
I'm looking at whole house humidifiers for our new place. I received quotes for a bypass unit for $750 or a steam unit for $2200 (includes new thermostat/humidistat).
Any thoughts or experience with the two options? Is bypass sufficient and steam overkill? Or is the steam unit my best option?
