Truck looks great. Definitely anxious to see what you do for limb risers, as I am planning on adding them also.

Jeremy, thanks, that means a lot coming from you!!! Unless I get really bored, I prolly won't mess around with the risers until late winter / early spring. I also don't have anything to attach it to at the roof level. Sure wish I could buy one of those sweet custom roof racks of yours...

The one thing I do like about where the limb riser tabs are placed is that it looks like you just might be able to still open/close the hood with the risers in place depending on the roof anchor points...

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how the tabs work out once I fab something up to the roof. They are definitely outside the working range of the hood provided the cables/wires extend parallel to the sides of the truck... inward movement will obviously restrict range of motion for the hood, but we'll just have to see...

Ok, with the next couple posts, I hope to recap our "wheeling" and camping (glamping!!!) trips over the summer and fall of 2012:
Peters Mill Run/Taskers Gap in the George Washington National Forest - May 19 - 20, 2012
We run the very mild trail up to a clearing and stumble upon -4Runners- of all things. To be honest, 90% of the time we go anywhere, it's usually Jeeps and Wranglers at that, so it was an amazing site to see these Japanese animals out in the wild!!! Crikey!?!
Next stop was Woodstock Tower. We hiked about two miles with ~500-ft elevation change to get to the base of the tower. The doggies made it up, but Riley (the one near the steps) was scared once she got up to the tower itself and had to be carried back down.

Maybe it's just my wishful thinking, but for some reason this shot makes me think it could have been taken in the African bush or something:
Here's my glamping setup (Coleman SUV air mattress, sleeping bag, pillow, etc.):
On to dinner time!!! On the way to Flagpole, we stopped at Blue Ridge Meats to get some locally-butchered meat products.

Here is the MF'ing business, a 2.35-pound bone-in ribeye (easily my favorite cut):
Getting the fire started. The Bumper Dumper was thrown on my hitch there as a joke. We don't shxt where we eat!

We have to up our glamping plating game... A $40 steak on a paper plate ain't right:

- it's relatively close at less than three hours to the trailhead
- the trail is very mild, but fun enough with mud holes and what not so that it's not boring
- the views and campsite are great

A front was moving through overnight and it got downright nasty, windy, etc. It got pretty cool even though it was the middle of summer.
You can see our makeshift windblock between the two XJs:
I tried to capture the clouds literally blowing through, but was difficult to catch:
Breakfast with three types of bacon. The larger is traditional pork bacon. The smaller pieces are beef bacon. Let me tell you, it is amazing. I didn't know it even existed prior to Blue Ridge Meats! It's like a mix between pork bacon, steak, and beef jerky. It's goooood.

Back to Flagpole for what turned out to be our last trip of the season. I don't know if we hit the peak of the color change, but it was still pretty.
FWIW, there's a mix of pics taken with a D-SLR, a PnS, and an iPhone 5, so there will be variances in quality, etc.
This time, we set up camp at Meadow Knob, a larger clearing that is slightly more surrounded by the forest. When we first got there, this is what we were greeted with.
It's the few that ruin it for the rest. Respect the privilege and don't take it for granted and think it's yours to abuse!!!
So we cleaned up (you can see the garbage bag full of cans and other crap that was left behind) and stacked up our fire pit tucked back into the trees a bit.

OK, since the Mid-Atlantic has finally received some "snow," now would be as good of a time as any to update the thread with my Winter Wheel/Tire setup.
I was very apprehensive about two key things: Plasti-Dip AND wheel adapters (commonly referred to as spacers); but I think the end results speak for themselves and I haven't felt/experienced any detrimental effects from the adapters.

I've been very happy with the setup overall. The main reason I switch out the wheels and tires in the winter is because the Michelins are much better suited for winter duties what with their siping and lower overall mass. Obviously it doesn't look as tough as the 33s, but I like using the right tool for the job and keeping salt and chemicals away from my aftermarket wheels.

You have excellent taste with youre vehicles IMO, op. The SC 300, MR2, the black runner, and that Supra . . . what I would do to get one of those! You should post a few more pictures of that car!

I've never had a food boner, but I think that steak would give me one. The 4Runner is looking good as always, and I love those garage shots with the Supra. Like I said before, I wish my 4Runner had a garage mate like that.
PS... Good on you for cleaning up that campsite. I've had to do the same on many occasions. Some people just take things for granted.
