HVAC control lights

I've just had two of my lights go out on my HVAC controls. They are the ones that back light the round controls at night. Anyways, has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any idea how difficult it will be to fix? I believe that they are LED's, so why did they go out so quickly? Are there any substitutes for soldering LED's in, because I can't solder worth a shiznit.

Sorry for all of the questions, but this really pisses me off. I'm also over my warrantee mileage, so they are going to charge me a $50 deductible to fix the problem.

Oh, I've got an '03 SR5 4x4 with 73K w/ lights on at all times.

You mean the amber led lights that indicates the fan speed? If so, my "OFF" indicator light burned out after only 9 months (2 months ago). I would take it in, but I'll wait until my 4R gets close to the end of the warranty to have it fixed or any other minor issues that may arise in the future.

No, all of those work just fine, it's the main backlight behind each cluster so that you can see where the buttons are at night. The individual selector lights work just fine.
