I've got a 96 4runner ltd with 160k miles. I travel to the mountains regularly and have noticed some weird issues with the heat and cold. If I turn off the defroster when it's cold and wet out, the windshield fogs up- even if I just turn the setting to the windshield/foot setting, with the heat on.

No matter what the settings, there is always a cold breeze in the passenger compartment. Any ideas?

the defogger only works with fresh air. so you need to let new air in to get rid of you fig issues


and about the draft in the pass compartment, is the vent on fresh air or recycled? lol is the window cracked? lol sorry just came to mind

Hey Shoot - yeah, all windows are closed when I get the draft!

I have the fresh air closed (on recirculate) when running the defroster because when it's open, there's a BIG draft of cold air in the driver and pass footwells.

I get a little draft with the fresh air closed, and a big draft with fresh air open - doesn't matter what position the other control is in (defrost, feet, etc).

Any addtl ideas? Is there a vent door or something that may not be closing tight?

im not sure, see if you can drive around and have someone search for it, there has to be a door open
