John, once again, READ what is posted. The MPG is from ACTUAL mpgs recorded by Edmunds long term test. It coincides with EPA ratings.

My apologies, but the general consensus is 42mpg from the tdiclub board. Still not good enough, look back at the link i posted in my last post.

Those TDIClub guys aren't "seat of your pants" mileage estimators either. You have some hardcore scientists, engineers and just plain anal people performing those calculations...as John said, go there and learn everything you ever wanted to know about TDIs. For sure, you'll get every side of the argument as they have hashed over every issue 10x at least with stats and sound methods to back them up.

I figured that there are some hardcore folks over there! The Prius, for whatever reason, is really attracting me. Maybe i am not looking hard enough, but around my area, there just aren't many diesel stations...and for me and my fairly fast-pace lifestyle, i need ease of fillups more than anything. And it sure helps that i have a Toyota dealership literally 5 min away that does $30 oil changes (with other minor stuffs).

Well, Edmunds just did a first drive of the Prius PHV (with lithium-ion battery): 2010 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid First Drive

It looks like great technology, but not particularly useful for people like me who has to commute 70 miles (round trip) daily. It may be that Toyota will offer both PHV (Li) and regular Prius (NiM) since both has its benefits to certain population. From the above, it does not seem like Li technology is at the top...yet.
