I bought an EcoBoost F150!

My bro has the 5.0 in his new f150... Gotta admit, its one sexy truck & hauls more ass than snoopdogg in a limo. You can't even feel it accelerate to 110, when you swear you were only doing 70 about 30 seconds ago. Woooooo, I can honestly say I'm getting one next year.

Ecoboost HP:365 @ 5000
TRQE:420 @ 2500- Thats what you want in a p/u nice low end torque at a low rpm. Fords claim that when properly equipped it can tow 11,300lbs!
5.0L HP:360 @ 5500
TRQE:380 @ 4250

Yes the Mustang has 420hp, but with the use of Premium fuel.

Not to sound like a Ford salesman here but I thought I would throw some of the info up here.

To be clear, the ecoboost published hp/tq figures are with premium, even though the truck doesn't require it. All the magazine tests have said that when towing they pretty well need premium as the power loss is noticeable, not a big deal but worth mentioning. For daily driving I'm sure you wouldn't notice the difference as easily.

Nice truck! I've ridden in an ecoboost and the turbos spool quickly, and the truck moves out! That's the motor I would have chosen as well.

Don't drink the koolaid! It was good at first but lately I've had a few issues and there are a bunch on the forums with issues. When it is good it can pull like a diesel. I'm already thinking of trading it. Maybe a tundra or another 4th gen and a beater pick-up to haul with. Sad part is, I know better, I've been down this road with ford 15 years ago.

What are the issues? I'd assume fuel dilution and oil consumption issues. Both seem common on new direct injection engines, especially turbo charged ones.

geez, i can't believe yall swoon over a ford truck. have you folks never driven a tundra? the 5.7L gets the same gas milege as that boosted v6, tows better, looks better, is built better, resells better, rides better... you see where i'm goin with this. good luck with the truck man, i hope ford takes care of their customers like toyota does.

Small oil leak that is getting bigger. It's coming from the intercooler so it's either a turbo seal or excessive blow-by from the PCV. The dealer isn't sure. Cracked intercooler and at 45-70 mph with light throttle the engine misses pretty bad. Also, an alignment issue.


Deep down, I knew I was making a mistake buying a ford but I did it anyway.

My uncle's turbo (believe it was the left one) had to be replaced in July due to a faulty seal. His friend in their surveying company had a rear main seal begin to leak on him in his Eco after 8,000 miles. One of their younger employees, who bought a F150 with the 5.0 in it, has had minor problems but none that could not be fixed within a day at the dealer. Shame on Ford for not putting enough R&D behind this truck.

I'd get the Tundra with the 5.7 in it. They have had a few problems in certain years, but none that couldn't be addressed.

I'd have gotten a Tundra Limited/ Platinum 5.7L 4x4 in Salsa red/ black/ nautical blue..... If money wasn't a problem

If you want to give me your VIN, i can check it through Fords systems to see if there are any recalls and or TSBs on the truck??

I did find a TSB that sounds like your engine misses. Check the TSB I listed..

But on a side note on the TSB good luck finding an intercooler for it too! It's the #1 back ordered piece in Fords part system!!

Pretty much; I had a Dodge that had SEVENTEEN problems within 16 months; but I know people who have owned them that have been rock solid. Same with Chevy.

I had 2 dodges and 3 Chevrolet's and they were all bullet proof with the exception of an 04 6.0 HD I had that went through TRE's and knock sensors like it was its job. My 99 dodge ram 2500 would have been the most reliable of it didn't **** a transmission at 88,000, but I sold it to my cousin 4 or 5 years ago and he still drives it daily.

I had a 92 Chevy C1500 with a 305 and I ran it out of oil and froze up a lifter and valve spring. Never fixed it and I know the guy that owns it now and he still hasn't fixed it but it's running strong at 200,000+ miles. It just sounds like a diesel.....

Sorry to hear about your problems. Hope the dealer takes care of you.

I have a 2010 F150 FX4 with the 5.4l engine (New engines in 2011) for almost 2 yrs now and I've had no issues with my truck in over 15k miles. Yeah, I don't drive much but I use it to haul my dirt bikes, which is why I traded in my 4runner. No more dealing with hitch carriers or trailers.

If I had to buy now, I'd go for the 5.0. I have friends with both Eco and 5.0 and the 5.0 is a bit smoother in power delivery, IMO. The Eco has a slight turbo lag that's barely noticeable.

The Tundra was quicker before the Eco but it is NOT made better than the Ford. It's an old design truck with lots of body/frame flex that desperately needs to be redesigned to compete with the current crop of 1/2 ton trucks.

Oh... and not all Fords have chrome...
