Well, i sold my 98 Montero and just brought a 05 Sport V8 with 12K. I ended up getting it for 26,500 out the door certified. Damn taxes and misc crap. oh well. I used to have an 85 sr5 and i have missed that ever since i got rid of it. The 4runner rocks, but i do have to say that i liked the seats, comfort, and sitting up higher in the 98 montero more. Also, that it had a factory rear locker. of course all this can be had on the new one. 
I just drove it from Houston to Denver and avg. 20 MPG on three full tanks. That was going up to Pikes Peak, the back roads to Frisco also. I am very happy with it. Driving through the switchbacks was incredible. My montero would have felt like it wanted to flip (they have alot of roll to them) FYI. Question, when does the feul light come on?? What is the reserve?? I filled up at just over 410 on the trip odom. and i didn't see it on.
