I can lift the front with just 5100 shocks?

Working with a 96 project to make a moderately modded rig for backcountry camping.

I bought I have a set of 99 tall springs, front and rear, that I haven't installed yet. Plan was 1" of height gain and then switch to 265/75/16 BFG ATs for a moderate increase in height.

However...

I want new shocks when I install the springs, and I look at Bilstein 5100s.

I can use the adjustment on the shocks can let me gain more lift? With the adjustable shocks, will the longer 99 springs even make any difference?

from what i understand, the bottom clip is stock, the second is slightly higher (i would think near leveling lift size), and the top is give me everything you have (probably an inch or so). i just bought a 99 tall runner have debated between a "3"" inch lift or just stock with probably the middle setting to "so cal bro" it just a touch, choices choices

I put 5100's on mine 3 hours ago. Let me describe how this works. The shock comes with 4 grooves etched into the tubing. They will ship to you at the factory setting, which is at the bottom groove. There is a metal clip ring that is seated in the lowest groove. You can remove this metal ring with some pliers or a flathead screwdriver (takes some minor finagling.)

Now, if you move the metal ring to the 2nd groove, this is the .85" setting. The third groove is the 1.75 setting. The 4th (top) groove is the 2.5 setting. Or 2. something.

I moved mine to the 1.75 setting. A black metal attachment (provided) will slide over the metal housing and come to rest on top of this metal ring we've been talking about. The actual coil spring will sit on top of this black metal attachment when you take it into the shop or do it yourself.

I am super pleased already! It lifted my front end just about exactly 1.75 inches. The shocks are not too firm or rigid, but a big improvement over factory shocks. AND....these shocks reduce the nosedive by about 85%. You will love them!

Yes. Just make sure it's on the right setting before install. They are adjustable.
 
Am looking to do the same thing with the same shocks. Thanks for the info!

I have run 5100's on my Titan for probably 30k miles now and I love them. Top perch is 2 inches on a Titan. On the 4 Runner top perch is 2.5 inches, I highly recommend 5100's, there is no better shock in the 100 buck range.
