If you haven't seen "Erik's Toyota Differential info" page, you need to.http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/diffs/

Although, after looking at it, I am confused about what I have on my '87 4cyl (non-turbo). The vin and id plate indicate a 4.10:1 with 2-pinion carrier. But according the the pictures at "Erik's" page, I would be led to believe that I have a 4-pinion set-up. What do you think?

It's a turbo/V6 diff.
Maybe the next truck on the assembly line was a turbo and you got that diff by mistake :bigok:
Or a PO swapped it.

That is what I have been thinking. The thing is, I am going to get an Aussie Locker, and supposedly they don't work with the 4-pinion carrier. Hopefully this is just the beefy-er case with the 2-pinion carrier, cause I really want an aussie, and not detroit or lockright.
I suppose I will just have to open it up and see!
