The camera absolutely does record and save information under certain conditions. It’s right in the owner’s manual. The images can be erased at a dealer, and the recording can be disabled as well but by default it saves them. No idea for how long or how much it can record but there you have it.

It clearly states when it triggers. Not sure why you're getting all bent out of shape over it. I'd be much more annoyed with Toyota saving my location data for 20 years.

I’m not bent about anything, I’m just showing that the assumptions being made about the camera images are wrong. The camera can and does record images, that’s a factual statement.
As far as 20 year retention of data, yeah that’s a nightmare too. You can opt out of all of it, or just pull the fuse.

I have a 2020 SR5 that we just bought. i tried the the LDA and ACC, was actually great to have especially on long drives. Life is very valuable not to have some sort of eyes who are alert all the time. I understand it is not perfect but worth to have.
i don't have the push button start since i don't like it, i still like the old school starting. at least i know no one will be able to hack to my car's systems and steal it, lol! Sooner or later, tesla cars can be stolen remotely,
Overall, i like the TSS. I have an older 2005 4runner which i still like and use as a backup. there are things i like in my old 4runner which the 2020 don't have. by the way, both my 4runners are sr5 with 3rd row seat. The reliability, awesome, never been stranded.

Exactly. You cell phone has way more important data. Ever say a random word and then your phone starts showing you ads for that exact same thing?
Every vehicle made in the last 5 yrs (at least) has event data recorders. I’ve seen the printouts and even the lowly Chev Aveo has it.

my son is a VW tech. customer came in with a complaint that his new car, less than 300 miles, was running badly. pulled a report on the engine, said it was going 97 mph, at over 8,000rpm. floated the valves, and some clips came off. obvious he was racing, and missed the higher gear, and slammed into 1st. no warranty coverage, over $3k to repair. you cant do anything stupid and get away with it.

It was a pretty hard hit. The car I hit was an Altima that was totaled. All their airbags deployed but mine did not and I had some neck and lower back injuries that I'm still seeing a doctor for. The truck needed $25,000 worth of repairs which sucks because it was only 3 months old.
