I don't want my grille held on by zip ties

I have a 2002 SR5. I recently hit up an org member after I saw his work on his Satoshi grille. He made / sent me one. It's obviously an "aftermarket" grille in terms of fitment. But I want the tabs to fit in the holes / clips where they're supposed to go. I can get mine to line up but it seems too fat. I shaved the nubs w/ a razor..broke one in the process :ugh: - and finally decided to secure it w/ a zip tie.

Do I need to shave more nub? Anyone have pics of the before/after?

My aftermarket grille fit fine in all the mounting brackets behind. I also used the stock clips off my stock grille I believe though. I didn't have to shave anything.

The clips fit into the slots in the grille. The little levers on the clips should be facing out away from the truck. Toyota has them...or a junkyard.

'Remove grill. Here is one of the infamous grill clips. You can see the lever (at the bottom) that you have to push down on to release the grill from the truck. When you do that the clip usually stays in the truck and needs to be removed (twist 90 degrees, pull out) and installed as shown into the grill so the grill can be later popped back into place. There are 7 of them.

Mines r held on with zip ties and cant even tell much easier to get off if I ever needed too also

nice GM horn. is it loud? and what is it out of? are you running 2? the ones i had gave up after 40+ years.

HOW did you notice that??? 4 + 1 yota meep horn. A,C,D,F, iirc....whatever the older 80's Caddy's had. Louder than meepmeep. You must have/had had something....older and more...GMish.

Okay, bump and back to the originally scheduled question....OP, did the pic and tiny instruct help any?

I did have to file the a/m grill nubs down on two sides to make it fit. But I've been F^(*G with a/m parts for a lifetime, so it didn't seem unusual. No zip ties though, used the Toyota clips.
