I goofed badly, now I have a question.

I realized today that I installed the rubber rear cam plug/block off thing "backwards" on the drivers side cylinder head. The cup that should face towards the cam shaft is facing towards the firewall.

Sooo, the $10 question is-

will this cause any problems? If I need to pull everything apart and re-install it "correctly" I will, but if it's only a cosmetic error ( and no one will ever see it anyway) I'll leave it alone because it will not bother me enough to worry about it, as long as oil doesn't puke out of the hole.

FWIW, I coated the new OEM plugs with a bit of the black FIPG.

Lol, I think it will be fine. I also put a light coat of FIPG around mine. The worst that could happen is a leak. Just take a peak behind there for the next couple weeks with an inspection mirror if it would give you peace of mind. Lots of people put the spark plug tube seals upside down and it probably doesn't make a difference.

Nothing to worry. The cam plug has a rubber coating (you also added FIPG) on the outside and it will still seal the mating surfaces.

Id say just monitor it and make sure it doesnt leak. pressure wash the area and check in a couple thousand miles.

If it isn't leaking, nothing to worry about. We all do the oh crap that's wrong after its put back together once in a while. I always say if your not making mistakes once in a while, you are not doing anything. As long as we learn from them is what really counts. :]

x2 on if it doesn't leak don't fix it. I've done all sorts of hack-jobs over the years and most of them turn out ok and actually last!

We all make mistakes. I just know it's time consuming to pull those valve covers off on these engines. You can easily keep and eye on it for leaks and repair if necessary.
