So Im looking for some members advice on what they would do in my position. Yesterday I got a nail in the sidewall of my duratracs with 50% tread on em...maybe a little more. I just ordered a bunch of parts so I can fit 35s on and they should be here this week. Hopefully do the install next week and try to get tires on the week after...maybe for a black Friday sale. My one tire with the nail is under a little warranty so I can replace it for half off. However if I want to keep even tread on that axle, I have to replace the other at full price. I do a lot of driving for work and whatnot as well as living a mile up a dirt road that I usually put it in 4wd for. So my question is...would you just replace the warranty tire? Replace both for less stress on car? I want to save money since I'm getting 35s but don't want to hurt my car at the cost of that. Input?

1/2" difference in diameter is barely relevant. I wouldn`t sweat it. or pump it up 2-3Psi to make it exactly the same.

It's a sidewall, shop won't patch it.
I'd just get it replaced and then try to sell it as almost new when you get the 35s. I've got a brand new Duratrac sitting in my spare location because it was replaced under warranty for a sidewall nail.

And this.Open diffs won't matter and even if LSD not an issue. Or you could put the new one on the front and it still won't matter. I guess I'm saying that the slight diameter difference doesn't really matter.
Your rig won't even pull to the side because of uneven tire wear.

Replace the nail tire with a new tire. Buy another new tire so they match. Send me the good 50% duratrac for $50 shipped
Just get a new tire, you won't see a difference at all. I have basically three different sizes on mine, due to nails or other objects. Personally I wouldn't even replace the damaged tire at this point. Plug kits are your friend, shove a bunch in there until it holds air, then Slime it and run it until your new tires are ready to go on.

Agreed, if you are getting new 35's soon I say plug it or tube it in the interim. Only reason I can see bothering to do more is for better resale (set of 4 vs. set of three).... If that isn't satisfactory to you well, do what you want partner, it is your money and you'll be able to get some of it back if you are going to sell your current tires once you upgrade.

I had a nail in the lower sidewall close to the corner in a Nitto TG and Discount refused to patch it. Took it to my trusted local mechanic who looked at it and said no problem. Tried to plug it and failed. Hole got bigger with second attempt. Wouldn't worry about the minute size difference from tread wear if same kind and size tire.
Thanks for everyone's input. Im gonna just change the one under warranty for 140 installed today. At least then I will have a set of 3 matching and one basically new to sell. Anyone in norcal interested in tires next week..let me know. I drive all over...to sac, the bay, ukiah, Chico... Throw out an offer in my pm since this is not a for sale thread! Otherwise I may open a thread next week when they are off the truck. Thanks again all who answered.
