If anyone has suggestions on any solid head units or navigation systems where I can use my iPhone or my iPod, let me know the product names & brands so I can start researching!


I got into an accident with my '99 4Runner a while ago, so this vehicle is the replacement for the Beast (RIP). I have been waiting for a while to find the perfect vehicle for me, and I also wanted a 4WD equipped vehicle as well. Unfortunately, time has gone by too fast and I held out until the last day when my father's deadline expired. This vehicle has about 78k miles on it, and I bought it for $11,250. It is a 2004 SR5 White 4Runner of the 4th Generation. Everything in it is stock, but there are two extra chairs available for use in the trunk area (who woulddathunk it?). Although this is a very costly upgrade, but I have plans to convert this baby into 4WD by the end of this summer in August. This whip is perfect..I mean the interior is so nice and I am looking forward to getting to know another 4th gen owners here on this forum.

I have the ken wood dnx 9960 and it is awesome. Dual USB with one dedicated for iPhone/iPod, the other can control a Hard Drive with movies, pics, & music, bluetooth, voice control, customizable background & illumination, backup cam, dvd, Garmin GPS, etc. It's great.

I wanted the Alpine but couldn't overlook the Garmin vs. no-name GPS issue.

Good luck with the 4x4 conversion! I want to convert mine but it's going to be after grad school.

That's excellent mileage for the price. Congrats. After owning my 4th gen and having spent substantial driving time in every other gen, I think you'll really like it. White is a great color choice also.

I have a Pioneer FH-P8000BT. It does not have navigation and is not that flashy, but that is what I was looking for when I was shopping. The bluetooth is awsome and has multiple aux inputs for ipod. Looks almost factory if it didn't light up in blue. I really like mine.

I'm sorry but buying a 2WD 4Runner with plans to convert it to a 4WD is just dumb unless your planning some crazy SAS swap.

Your going to need need thousands in mechanical and electrical components then someone to take you seriously when you want to install it all.

i went with the JVC NT-50 and love every second of it! its super quick, loaded with features and the blue tooth alone is worth it if you are on the road a lot. hit me up if you have any questions and ill answer them to the best of my knowledge.
