Make sure the hitch, and most importantly the frame, weren't damaged by the hit.

why did you have to pay for a $400 deductible if it's not your fault?

No insurance... Well, that's not totally true. He had "insurance", but I'm pretty sure it was fraud as the place didn't exist when I tried to file a claim through it. Ended up having to go through mine instead. It was a really crappy month to begin with, and I just wanted my truck back.

Houston drivers are the worst.

Highly doubtful with that minor of damage that the frame in any way was compromised.

I have received two estimates so far.. One says I only need the center cover replaced and they will paint over the dent in the bumper.. Not what I want to do.. The other place said they will replace the whole bumper but forgot to add the center cover on there. I assume they thought it was one piece, that's my fault as I wasn't really paying attention. :\

That sucks? You didn't splurge for "“collision deductible waiver"? That way if you get hit and run or get hit by an un-insured driver you are not responsible for your deductible?

No, with my insurance provider at the time it was a costly add on and my premium was already high due to my age. I have another provider now, and my premium is literally half of what it was then.

I will say that whatever I lost has been more than made up for via a good connection at the body shop where I had the work done.
