I hate the power side steps 2013 4runner

If there’s any complaints I have about my suv is that I can’t stand the power running board. Sometimes when I close my door it won’t even go in and when I step out of the car sometimes the running board won’t even go out. How can I fix this? My 4runner only has 48k miles. I think eventually I am going to get real sidesteps and replace my running board but any idea on how to fix my issue of it not deploying and staying out while driving?

As much as you can I’d inspect the system - clean up the hinges. Try to see if any of the wires have been chewed through by squirrels etc, use contact cleaner on the plug in

Otherwise, you could just disconnect it and leave it in the down position
