Can you tell if thats a JBL headunit?

Tough challange. I might think that it is since it kind of looks flush with the console. The steering wheel blocks the speaker grates so you can't see if the jbl badge is on it. If you have a pic of the back seat you could look for the badges on the grill. I assume your looking at this ride on the internet as consideration for purchase, so just call them. It could still be a jbl HU, just not the synthesis.


Edit: The more I look at it the more I think its just the angle that makes it look flush. It might actually be sunk back in the dash a little bit which would mean its not the jbl synthesis. Good luck

I actually bought the truck today over the phone. I'm picking it up tomorrow. The salesperson didn't know right off the bat, and I wasn't too concerned. I was just looking at the pics and thought I'd ask you guys to see if you knew. I'm happy either way. I figured you 4runner geniuses would know!

Okay, got it. Well, maybe the easiest way to tell is to look at the speaker grills in the doors. But you can't see the JBL logo from that particular angle.

My guess is that it's not JBL...but I'm no expert

Just looked in my wifes vehicle which has the jbl unit and i'm 95% sure its not.

To me it looks as if there are three rows of buttons beneath the screen, which would be different than stock. I'll be interested to hear which system it is tomorrow!

Thanks for your responses guys. I'm happy either way, I just thought I'd post it up and see. I had a 2000 Limited 4unner and loved it and wish I didn't get rid of it so I'm really happy to get into a 4th gen.

On Funks Toyota's website they list this as an SR5, which I'm sure you know this is a Sport Edition right? Good for you if they list it at the price point of an SR5.

Yes I know they advertise it as an SR5 but its clearly a Sport Edition, which I was searching for. I got it for $22 000 CDN, which from my research isn't bad at all. I have about $2000 in negative equity from a lease I'm moving over onto this truck, but what better vehicle than a 4runner to move negative equity into, right? I made a bad decision, but I plan to keep this truck for a long time.

It's not a base SR5. It has steering wheel audio controls but I don't know if that means it has a JBL.

All 4X4's have DAC (downhill assistance control). You can see the button on the center console.

Also, a 2 wheel drive model would not have a center differential lock. (Button is visible on the dash to the left of the steering wheel)

99% sure its not JBL. Mine has little white "JBL" symbol in top left corner of the deck. I don't see it on photo
