It's pretty easy. Just make sure you get the install kit and wire harness and it will be pretty simple.
If your putting in a double din pioneer. This is the face plate to get. Crutchfield doesn't know about this and the Metra is no so good looking.

Get a USB panel mount and an isimple is335 for audio 3.5 and a pac USB cable to the dash. You can see my mod in the pic. Grab a micro bypass and your set.

I'm a little too quick and brief. The pioneer accessory is a video cable that's 30 pin. And connects to the rgb connector on the x4500. The USB and audio are on the Toyota dash. See pic lower left. On the upper left is the phone mount from Scosche.
Hope this helps. The micro bypass is for playing video while auto is in motion.

That was the weird thing. I put in my vehicle on crutchfield and it said nothing about a new trim ring.

the metra 40-uv 13 m to f antenna Y cable and 40 gm10 adapter to retain use of the radio and diversity antennas otherwise your reception could suffer. Also make sure to connect the "power antenna" leads from the OE and metra harnesses. The directions crutchfield will include in the package have these leads identified. Just finished installing my Pioneer 4100 NEX from crutch field. The customer service is excellent if you run into any issues with the install. Their instructions don't cover everything. And the metra dash kit that crutch field offers was a pain. Go with the one shown above.

Curious about this...the aux cable in my friend's 4Runner doesn't appear to be working. Not sure how he'd troubleshoot that specifically while simultaneously replacing the stock head unit? Ideally we'd get both taken care of at the same time but the aux port, I believe, is wired into the compartment below the arm rest, so that could be tricky. He's tried adapters, different phones, etc., seems to be the aux port is the issue, but he plans on getting a new HU soon and not sure if it would come with an aux port on the face plate or if it's possible/expected that one would continue to use the factory aux port.
