Hey guys,

so I was driving around today and I saw this. Its an 85 and the guy wants $750 for it, not a spec of rust its been stored inside and always been rustproofed. Problem is, it needs a motor, cracked cyl head. Worth buying??

$750 is really hard to pass up...but the real question is how much is getting it running going to add to that 750 and what do you want to do with it after the fact like trailmix said.

IMO it would be worth it if you were going to use it for a project, but if you plan on fixing it up to drive daily, you're probebly better off buying a lower priced used car and save yourself the hassle and labour that would be required in order to put this beater all back together.

Buy it. The least you could do is part it out. You could find a motor cheap enough and create a nice build out of it. This all depends if you have the extra cash and willing to take the gamble that other things are not wrong with it.

If it's just a head, that shouldn't be too bad. You just need to find out what else is bad with it.

It aparently ran and drove fine untill the head cracked. its a five speed with a four cyl diesel, anyone know of any motors that will bolt up, possibly from a 4runner?

I've got some time so I'd be just fixing it up a bit, Nothing crazy for now but maybe in the future.

Diesels aren't as rare overseas. Buy it if you want a good project wheeler. Nice platform.

Here is a pic of my buddies that he just sold over the summer. Its pretty simple, had a 350, SOA, blocks, shackles and all Toyota running gear.

It was a bad ass wheeler, but small stuff started to nickel and dime so he sold it along with a parts crusier for $1000.

buy it, it's hard to find those in good condition and like most things as time goes on it'll only get harder, i'm the type that even it's going to take me 3-4 years to get it built, i don;t mind, pick it up cheap and drop $100 or so every other paycheck till you get it done, i love those and would buy one in a second if it was clean and at that price.
