In hindsight, the vehicle that almost drove them out of the US market, the Disco 1, was probably the most reliable one. It occurred to me that at least it was simple enough to fix yourself. I can't stand their full line-up of crossovers that have been maxed out of off-road potential. I actually think the a transfer case with low range is an option on some.



The XJ Cherokee group is out to lynch you now. You have time since all those years of unibody flex made it hard for their doors to open.

Yeah, the t-case is an option on some of them--and all of them have IFS. It's embarrassing when LR does the press drives and has them bouncing around on rocks with the wheels in the air and all the brakes and drivetrain making ungodly noises while Bay Area car journos who don't know what a normal 4WD can do look on in awe at the POWAR and capability!

Generally I would agree, but history shows Toyota isn’t really about keeping up with their neighbors as demonstrated with the Tacoma.

Hope for the best, but don’t hold your breath.
