I just can't decide!

I have been researching lifts for my 4R since before I got it back in Dec. I've read all of the lift and build threads but I still can't make up my mind!

Here's the scoop... I've narrowed it down to 2 options and I had a whole thing written up with what I think the pros and cons are but I'll skip all of that and just let you tell me what you think?

The options are...
FJ springs, Blistien 5100's. Front set to 1.75", 1" Cornfed spacer in the rear
vs.
OME 884 front/TT Superflex springs rear w/Blisten 5100's set to 0

My 4R is a daily driver that sees limited offroad use. The offroad use it does get is more expedition vs trails or rocks. Ride quality is important. I only plan to run a 265/70-17 AT type tire.

Basically I'm debating if the 884/SF combo is a significant enough upgrade over the FJ springs to warrant the extra cost?

I can't comment on the FJ 5100 setup, but I have the 884/toytec/5100 setup. My T4R is my daily driver and I couldn't be happier with the ride quality. It stiffins the suspension up just enough but not over kill at all.

I recently installed 5100's set at .85 paired with 884 1" Coils and 885 2" springs w/ 5100 shocks and am very happy with them abd my wallet still has some weight to it. Runner sits level.

Go with the 884's, with 5100s it will ride great.

The FJ springs are not really enough of a change to be worth it.

I am confused by your statement. Did you install an 885 on one side and the 884 on the other side?

Or did you mean 884 in the front and 895 in the rear?

Yes, I've seen you recent thread on your setup. One of the few that has me second guessing the FJ srpings. That and I'm not really crazy about preloading the 5100's and having to use a spacer in the back.

That said, would any of you change your recommendation if you knew that I already have a set of low mile FJ springs?

I went with the FJ springs and 5100s set at 1.75" and a 1.5" poly spacer in the rear. Unloaded, it still has some factory rake to it but loaded down sits nice and level. The ride is good, way better than how it came out of the factory. I also run a 265/70/17 tire. Lately, I've been thinking of going to the top notch on the 5100s and getting airbags for the rear though.

Front 884

Rear 885
That's an interesting trick. OME 885 springs are front springs only. You can't run them in the rear. They wouldn't fit even if you wanted to.

ETA - Here's a visual. The springs in the middle are OME 884s. The springs on the outside are Toytech Superflex's rears. As you can see, the fronts and rear springs are completely different...

IMO it is all about what you are willing to pay without major buyer's remorse. If you already have the FJ springs, this seems like the way to go. Again, I cannot comment on the difference in ride of the two set ups just my own.

That being said, if you don't use the FJ springs, I am sure someone would buy them from you to help off set the cost. Just thinking out loud...

Between what it payed for the FJ springs and would end up paying for the cornfed spacer, the 884\TT SF combo would only end up being around $200 more.

I think sell the FJ springs and go with the 884\SF's. Seems more "right" to me.

Thanks

I'm not really sure what you are referring to......you mean the big springs are too big to fit up front!?? Holy crap that's why it rides so stiff.........:peep:

895's are in the rear...sorry for the typo......
