I know didley about lift

Call me lame, but I dont get the look of "level lift" where ppl lift front by 3.0 in and rear by 1.5 in. Sure fender gaps are even now but roofline and beltline looks saging to me. Most trucks and SUV's have more gap around rear wheels. The roof hight of most 4Runners is even and there is no "factory rake", so why there's need to level? Rolls has a reverse factory rake (see beltline) is that where trend came from?

I'm not sure what you want to hear. To each their own, I guess. Same goes with a lot of mods people do. Some like it, some don't. It's all personal preference to the eye of the beholder.

just because the beltline is lower or it looks like the roof rack sits level, there is in fact rake in the factory stance and quite a bit of it. all trucks and SUV's are this way for multitude of reasons, the biggest reason is towing. the rear of the vehicle squats when loaded down, if it were level then the front would raise up a little bit and the head lights would be shining at the sky and the front bumper might possibly not meet crash test regulations and among other things.

leveling the truck out just looks cooler to 99% of people. and "reverse rake" or cali lean, tennessee tilt, palatka lean, carolina squat etc its called something different in all parts of the country are just a regional fad among tuners. i dont personally like the squatter style but some people do.

Thanks, Rebel, that answers it in general for me. I wasn't aware of all those trends. I've seen lot of lifts gone wrong in appearance department I guess...
